Application of the drug among pregnant women and nursing mothers
The safety of the Novo-Passit drug for the fetus growing in the womb is not fully understood, therefore tablets are prescribed to pregnant women only if there are serious indications when the expected therapeutic effect for the mother exceeds the potential risk to the fetus.
If it is necessary to treat Novo-Passit during breastfeeding, a woman should consult a doctor, since the safety of the drug has not been studied, it is better to stop lactation for a while.
Adverse Reactions
The drug is well tolerated by patients following the dose indicated in the instructions. If dosage or individual hypersensitivity is exceeded, the following side effects may develop:
With moans of the digestive system - pain in the stomach, increased salivation or dry mouth, nausea, urge to vomit, burning sensation along the esophagus, diarrhea or constipation;
From the central nervous system - drowsiness, dizziness, weakness, reduced concentration of attention;
Allergic reactions - itchy skin, reddening of the skin, rashes, hives, edema of the nasal passages, bronchospasm in persons prone to allergic reactions.
With a severe allergic history, anaphylactic shock or angioedema may develop after taking the tablet inside. With the development of these side effects, therapy with the drug should be discontinued and consult a doctor.
An overdose of the drug
If this dosage is observed, the risk of overdose is minimal. When Novo-Passit is misused, the symptoms of overdose gradually develop in patients, which are expressed in the intensification of the above-described side effects, inhibition of liver function in severe cases, tachycardia, muscle weakness, and lowering blood pressure.
With the development of such symptoms, the patient is sent to a hospital where he is symptomatically treated as needed.
Drug Interactions
The drug Novo-Passit should not be combined with other sedatives, as this increases the risk of overdose.
The drug should not be taken concomitantly with hypnotic drugs, since this drug interaction enhances the effect of each other, as a result of which the patient is at increased risk of side effects.
During treatment with the drug, the patient should not take medicines containing ethanol, nor should alcohol beverages be consumed. When Novo-Passit is combined with alcohol, the oppressive effect on the central nervous system increases.
When the drug is combined with muscle relaxants, the patient may feel a strong muscle weakness.
The extract of perforated St. John's wort reduces the therapeutic effect of hormonal drugs, including contraceptive pills, which patients should be informed about.
special instructions
During the use of Novo-Passit tablets, alcohol consumption is contraindicated for the patient, since in this case the risk of side effects and depressive effects on the central nervous system is increased.
Patients with gastrointestinal disease in acute form should take the drug with caution after consulting a doctor. If, after a week from the beginning of therapy, the symptoms of neurosis do not disappear or become more pronounced, the patient should consult a specialist, perhaps these pills do not suit him.
During treatment with the drug, the likelihood of photosensitivity increases, so patients are advised not to visit the solarium or stay in the open sunlight for a long time.
Since the tablet contains lactose, patients with congenital intolerance to this substance should abandon this drug, in order to avoid the development of negative reactions, always carefully study the accompanying instruction.
The drug affects the operation of the central nervous system, so during treatment should refrain from driving a car or a complex technique that requires a quick reaction.
