pharmachologic effect
Antibiotic of a wide spectrum of action.
Pharmacodynamics and pharmacokinetics
Azitrox is an antibiotic with a wide spectrum of action, referring to the azalides. The drug has an effect on various types of bacteria, suppressing their synthesis and slowing growth. The bactericidal action of the drug is manifested, both in relation to intra- and extracellular pathogens. The activity of the antibiotic is directed to gram-negative bacteria, gram-positive cocci, some streptococci and anaerobic microorganisms, and so on.
However, azithromycin does not affect gram positive bacteria that are resistant to erythromycin.
After taking the antibiotic, absorption from the digestive tract takes place, and after 2.5-3 hours, the maximum concentration is achieved in the plasma composition. Simultaneous reception with food can slow down and reduce the absorption of the active substance.
In the body, azithromycin is able to persist for 5-7 days after the application of the last dosage, therefore it is acceptable to use short 3-5 days of therapy. When it enters the liver, azithromycin is able to demethylate, forming inactive metabolites. From the plasma, the active substance is excreted in 2 stages, composing periods of 14-20 hours and 41 hours.
Indications for use of Azitrox
The drug is prescribed for the treatment of infectious diseases that cause certain microorganisms that exhibit sensitivity to the action of azithromycin.
Therefore, indications for the use of the drug may include various infectious lesions:
skin or soft tissue covers;
organs of the genitourinary system;
respiratory and ENT organs and so on.
Contraindications to the use of Azitrox
Contraindications include:
presence of high sensitivity to this drug or other agents of the macrolide group;
age of patients is less than 12 years;
various pathologies of the liver and kidneys.
With caution, it is prescribed for pregnant and nursing patients, as well as for patients suffering from arrhythmia.
Side effects
The drug intake can cause a variety of disorders in patients, affecting the activity of the cardiovascular and nervous system. In addition, there may be deviations in the functioning of the digestive tract, the development of allergic reactions and fungal lesions, for example, vaginal candidiasis.
Instructions for use of Azitrox (Method and dosage)
This drug is recommended to be taken once a day for an hour before eating or 2 hours after. Single dosage is one capsule, which must be taken whole, with plenty of water.
Instruction on Azitrox 500 mg reports that this form of the drug is prescribed to adult patients, and take capsules for three days. In this case, the 250 mg preparation is often used in the treatment of less complex forms of the disease. However, the attending physician can determine the individual dose and duration of treatment, for a particular patient, depending on the complexity and characteristics of the course of the disease.
Overdose
In case of an overdose, there may be a marked manifestation of symptoms related to side effects. Also, the occurrence of such undesirable symptoms as disorders of stools, nausea and vomiting can not be ruled out. A further increase in the dose often causes a reversible loss of hearing.
In such cases, gastric lavage, the use of enterosorbents, and symptomatic therapy are prescribed.
Interaction
In the treatment of Azitrox, a break of at least 2 hours should be observed between taking this antibiotic and antacid preparations. In addition, increased efficacy of ergot alkaloids and dihydroergotamine, synergism of tetracycline chloramphenicol, and a decrease in the effect of lincosamides were noted.
Antatsida, ethanol and food are able to slow down and reduce absorption. But, if some substances and products influence the effectiveness of this drug, then this antibiotic is not pharmaceutically compatible with heparin.
Storage conditions
This antibiotic should be stored in a sufficiently dry place, protecting from penetration of sunlight, maintaining the temperature + 15-25 degrees C.
Shelf life
The drug is stored for 2 years if the storage conditions are observed.
Analogues of Azitrox
Drugs with a similar effect are: Sumamed and others. These analogues of Azitrox are also created on the basis of the active substance - azithromycin.
Alcohol and Azitrox
When patients use alcohol with Azitrox, this can have the most negative effect on liver function. The fact is that in addition to processing the antibiotic and removing the decomposition products, ethanol splitting will also be necessary. Also, alcohol slows down the production of enzymes that help to remove harmful elements of decay, and not blood but not harmful substances.
Reviews on Azitrox
As numerous reviews on Azitrox show, the drug is highly effective and, thanks to its powerful action, helps cure complex infectious diseases.
Another problem is the use of this antibiotic without the appointment of a specialist. Therefore, reviews of doctors often contain information about the consequences of such careless therapy. In any case, before the treatment of the disease, it is necessary to consult a doctor and first determine the causative agent of the infection for its sensitivity to this drug.
