You can buy Tobrex on this page
Composition
In 1 ml of the solution contains 3 mg of tobramycin as the main substance, as well as benzalkonium chloride, boric acid, sodium sulfate, sodium hydroxide or sulfuric acid (for stabilizing the pH level), tilakopol, purified water as additives.
Form of issue
It is produced in the form of transparent colorless or with a straw hue solution in drop-drip bottles "Drop Tanner" of 5 ml with the possibility of dosing. 1 bottle in a cardboard box.
pharmachologic effect
Tobramycin is an antibiotic that acts on a wide spectrum of pathogens and belongs to the group of aminoglycosides. In a low concentration, bacteriostatic action appears (inhibits the 30S subunit of ribosomes and stops the synthesis of the protein), bactericidal action is more pronounced in high concentrations (changes the permeability of cell membranes, causing cytolysis).
Antibacterial activity is high in relation to: Staphylococcus spp. (including Staphylococcus epidermidis, Staphylococcus aureus and their penicillinase-producing, coagulase-negative and coagulase-positive strains), Streptococcus spp. (including beta-hemolytic strains of group "A", some non-hemolytic strains, Streptococcus pneumoniae), Enterococcus spp., Escherichia coli, Proteus spp. (including Proteus vulgaris, Proteus mirabilis, indolpositive and indolegative strains), Serratia spp., Enterobacter spp. (Enterobacter aerogenes), Providencia spp., Citrobacter spp., Haemophilus aegyptius, Morganella morganii, Acinetobacter calcoaceticus (Herellea vaginacola), Moraxella lacunata, to some representatives of Neisseria spp. (including Neisseria gonorrhoeae).
Tobramycin in the spectrum of action is similar to gentamycin, but the former is more active with respect to gentamycin-resistant strains and can be used as a drug of choice for low efficacy of neomycin-containing eye drops.
Tobramycin is highly effective against infections caused by Pseudomonas aeruginosa.
Tobramycin has a low efficacy against the majority of streptococcal strains belonging to group D.
Pharmacodynamics and pharmacokinetics
Absorption into the systemic circulation is practically absent, if the drug is applied topically.
Indications for use
Eye drops, as well as eye ointment Tobrex, are used to treat infectious and inflammatory lesions of the eye and surrounding tissues:
blepharitis;
blepharoconjunctivitis;
keratoconjunctivitis;

iridocyclitis.
It is also reasonable to use Tobrex in barley (meibomite) and prevent complications before and after ophthalmic interventions.
Contraindications
Individual hypersensitivity to the drug and its components.
Side effects Tobrex
In 1.5% of cases, allergic reactions are revealed, which are manifested by itching, tearing, reddening of the conjunctiva.
In 1% of cases, swelling and redness of the eyelids, swelling of the conjunctiva, discomfort in the eye area are revealed.
In less than 1% of cases, chemosis (conjunctival edema), blepharitis (inflammation of the eyelid edges), keratitis (inflammation of the cornea), pain in the eye, single ulceration were detected.
With long-term treatment, it is possible to attach fungal superinfection.
Instructions for use (Method and dosage)
Instructions for eye drops Tobrex and instructions for eye drops Tobrex 2x differ in the frequency of administration of the drug: the first recommends to instill 1 drop 4-5 times a day, the second advises to apply 1 drop 2-3 times a day; ointment Tobrex is applied on 1 cm post 2 times a day.
The difference between Tobrex and Tobrex 2x in the multiplicity of applications is due to the thicker consistency of the latter drug. This feature allows the active ingredient to stay in the conjunctival sac longer and therefore reduce the frequency of administration without affecting the therapeutic effect. The course of treatment is 7-10 days.
In special cases, it is possible to practice instillation every hour, but after reducing the severity of the symptoms it is necessary to return to the above scheme. At night, it is recommended to supplement the treatment with the use of Tobres ointment to prolong contact with the drug.
Overdose
The characteristics of this drug do not imply the appearance of any symptoms of poisoning when it is used correctly, as well as by accidentally swallowing the contents of one bottle.
Complaints in case of an overdose of the drug may be similar to the side effects observed in some patients (spot keratitis, increased lacrimation, redness, edema and itching of the eyelids).
If the topical application of an overdose of Tobrex has occurred, it is recommended to wash the eye with warm water.
Interaction
It is necessary to exclude the joint use of Tobrex with the following drugs:
with ethacrylic acid or furosemide, because ototoxic effect is observed;
with capreomycin, carboplatinum, teicoplanin, cefepime, cefotaxime, t. oto- and nephrotoxic effect is observed;
with vancomycin, tk. oto-, nephro- and neurotochemical effect is observed;
with cifamandol, cefapazone, cefuroxime, amphotericin B, because nephrotoxic effect is observed.
Also, do not simultaneously use Tobrex with drugs that have in the composition tetracycline (due to the content in the first tyloxapol).
Storage conditions
Keep in a place protected from children and inaccessible to light at a temperature of 17-27 ° C, open the bottle should be used within 30 days.
Shelf life
3 years, under the condition of hermetic packaging.
special instructions
Unreasonable increase in the frequency of administration and duration of administration of the drug may lead to the appearance of microorganisms, which are insensitive to the components of the preparation, including fungal infection of the eye. If symptoms of superinfection occur, it is recommended that you consult a doctor.
Tobex for children
Instruction for children to receive eye drops Tobrex indicates that the drug can be used in pediatric practice in children aged 1 year and older in adult dosages. Studies confirm that the use of the drug is safe and effective in children, as well as newborns suffering from conjunctivitis, who received a five-day daily intake of the drug within a week.
Tobrex for newborns
The instruction indicates that Tobrex can be used as eye drops for newborns strictly according to the doctor's prescription. When receiving newborns, the reviews are positive and there are no data indicating the side effect of the drug, if the dosage and the frequency of admission are observed.
In pregnancy and lactation
A limited amount of data on the use of tobramycin by pregnant women locally do not allow conclusions about the reproductive toxicity of the drug. It is recommended to refrain from using the drug during pregnancy.
There are no studies confirming the ingestion of tobramycin in breast milk, but risk can not be excluded for a child breastfeeding. It is necessary to choose between the possibility of abstaining from breastfeeding for the period of treatment with Tobrex and the rejection of drug therapy, taking into account the positive effect of lactation for the baby and the use of the drug for the nursing mother.
