Composition

One tablet of Albarel contains 1 mg of rilmenidine.
The composition of inactive excipients includes 4.5 mg of sodium carboxymethyl starch, 33.6 mg of MCC, 47 mg of lactose, 0.155 mg of solid paraffin, 0.23 mg of colloidal anhydrous silicon dioxide, 0.9 mg of magnesium stearate, 2 mg of talc, 0.025 mg beeswax white wax.

Form of issue

Albarel is available in round biconvex shaped tablets with white color and engraving on both sides - the "H" sign. The drug is packaged in blisters of 10 tab. In one cardboard bundle there may be 1, 2 or 3 blisters.

Pharmacodynamics and pharmacokinetics

Albarel is a derivative of oxazoline, is able to selectively interact with imidazoline receptors located in the cortical, in the peripheral vasomotor centers (mainly renal). When binding rilmenidine with imidazoline receptors, the sympathomimetic activity of cortical and peripheral centers is inhibited, which in consequence causes a decrease in blood pressure.
The hypotensive effect of Albarel is dose-dependent; addiction does not occur with prolonged therapy.
The effect of the drug persists for 24 hours, including during physical exertion.

Indications for use

The drug is prescribed for arterial hypertension.

Contraindications

    patients with severe depression;
    presence of severe renal failure (CC less than 15 ml / min);
    pregnancy and breastfeeding;
    hypersensitivity to rilmenidine and other constituents of the drug.
Not used in pediatrics.

Side effects

Take one tablet inside at the beginning of breakfast. If the application of Albarel in such a dosage does not cause a therapeutic effect, then it is increased to 2 tablets per day (in the morning and in the evening - at the beginning of breakfast and dinner). Treatment is recommended for a long time.
Attention! Despite the fact that the withdrawal of the drug is usually not accompanied by side effects, discontinuation of treatment should occur with a gradual decrease in dose.

Treatment
Assign a gastric lavage and, in the future, conduct sympathomimetic therapy. Studies indicate that active rilmenidine is poorly removed by hemodialysis.

Interaction
