Pharmacodynamics and pharmacokinetics

The active substance directly affects the imidazoline receptors of the central nervous system located in the medulla oblongata. This leads to a decrease in sympathetic n. from. , and blood pressure is reduced.
Due to the fact that imidazole has low similarity in alpha-adrenergic receptors, such common side effects as dryness of mucous membranes and pronounced sedative effect practically do not arise.
All the dependence on food intake, already an hour after the administration, the maximum concentration of the active substance in the blood is observed. About 7% binds to plasma proteins. In the body it is metabolized into guanine derivatives and 4,5-dihydromoxonidine (they are excreted in 5 hours). Moxonidine is excreted per day, mostly by the kidneys.

Reviews about Physiotens

Reviews about Physiotens are good. At long constant reception effectively lowers arterial pressure. Side effects are most often headache and dryness of the oral cavity shell. But after the first weeks of admission they gradually pass. The drug is most often used by older people, take it during crises, and every day after dinner.
