The drug Hydrocortisone is a drug from the group of glucocorticosteroid hormones. The drug has a pronounced anti-allergic, anti-inflammatory, anti-edematous, anti-shocks and is applied, both internally and externally.

Form of formulation and composition of the preparation

The drug Hydrocortisone is available in several dosage forms:
    Hydrocortisone ointment;
    Eye drops;
    Pills;
    Eye Ointment Hydrocortisone;
    Vials with powder for solution for injection;
    Suspension for intramuscular and intra-articular injections.
The main active substance of the drug is the hormone hydrocortisone.
Ointment Hydrocortisone 1% is available in aluminum tubes of 3 or 5 g in a cardboard bundle with the accompanying instruction.

Pharmacological properties of the drug

Hydrocortisone belongs to the group of synthetic glucocorticosteroid hormones for internal and local use. The main active substance 1% ointment has a pronounced anti-inflammatory, anti-edematous, anti-allergic and antitoxic effects.
When applied to the skin surface, hydrocortisone is rapidly absorbed into the systemic blood stream, providing immediate therapeutic effect. The active agent of the ointment takes an active part in a number of complex chemical reactions, due to which the release of mediators provoking the inflammatory process is slowed.

Indications for use

Ointment Hydrocortisone 1% is prescribed to patients for treatment and prevention of the following conditions:
    Inflammatory processes of the skin;
    Wounding poorly healing wounds, not amenable to therapy;
    Dermatitis in the period of exacerbation with dying foci;
    Infected wounds.
In pharmacies, you can also find ointment Hydrocortisone 0,5%, it is also called ophthalmic ointment. The drug in this dosage is prescribed to patients with the following eye diseases:
    Blepharitis;

Contraindications for use
