The drug Norcolut refers to gestagen-containing drugs and is used in gynecology.

Form of formulation and composition of the preparation

Norcolut is available in the form of tablets for oral administration, white or almost white with engraved Latin letters on one side and "+" on the other side. Tablets are packed in blisters of 10 pieces of 2 blisters in a cardboard box with a detailed description of the drug inside.
Each tablet contains 5 mg of active active ingredient - Norethisterone, as well as a number of auxiliary substances, including lactose monohydrate.

Pharmacological properties of the drug

The drug Norcolut refers to the progestin. Under the influence of the active substance, the state of the mucous membrane of the uterus changes, the production of gonadotropin is blocked by the pituitary gland, the process of maturation of follicles and the onset of ovulation are suppressed.

Indications for use

Norcolut tablets are prescribed to patients for treatment of the following conditions:
    Premenstrual syndrome;
    Breakthrough bleeding;
    Anovulatory cycle;
    Expansion of the mucous membrane of the uterus beyond its limits;
    Absence of menstruation;
    Myoma of the uterus;
    The drug is prescribed to suppress the production of milk from nursing mothers;
    Mastopathy.

Contraindications

The drug can be used only as directed by a doctor. Before using the tablets, you should read the accompanying instructions. Treatment with this drug is contraindicated if the patient has the following conditions:
    Period of intensive growth and puberty;
    Suspicion of malignant breast formation or diagnosed cancer;
    Oncological formations in female genital organs;
    Pregnancy or suspicion of it;
    Diseases of the liver, accompanied by a violation of the function of the organ;
    Increased level of bilirubin in the blood;
    Predisposition to thrombosis;
    The presence of blood in the urine of unexplained genesis;
    Bloody discharge from the genital tract of unclear etiology;
    Obesity;
    Jaundice;

Relative contraindications include:

    Bronchial asthma or propensity to bronchospasm and bronchial obstruction;
    Chronic heart failure;
    Epilepsy;
    High blood pressure;

Method of administration and dosage

Norcolut tablets are taken orally. Depending on the indications, the dose is determined on an individual basis.
With myomatous nodes in the uterus, endometriosis, the drug is prescribed for 1-2 tablets per day from 5 to 25 days of the cycle.
In case of miscarriage or artificial termination of pregnancy after 16 weeks, according to the indications for preventing lactation, the drug is prescribed 3 tablets per day on the first day, on the second day - 2 tablets, from the fourth day - 1 tablet per day for 1 week.
In all other cases, the dose of the drug is set individually, under the supervision of a doctor, after a preliminary examination.

Use among pregnant women and nursing mothers

Norcolut tablets are contraindicated for use by women who are expecting a baby. If a woman took the drug and became pregnant, the therapy should be stopped immediately and consult a gynecologist.
During breastfeeding treatment with the drug is not carried out, since the active active substance of the tablets suppresses lactation and reduces the amount of milk from the mother.

Adverse Events

Interaction with other drugs

The drug should be administered with caution to patients who are being treated with hypoglycemic agents, glucocorticosteroids, oral anticoagulants, as this drug interaction significantly increases the risk of side effects from the kidneys and the liver.
Norcolut should not be prescribed to patients concomitantly with barbiturates, hypnotics, rifampicin, cimetidine, as the load on the liver increases and the risk of side effects increases.
