Camethon refers to drugs that have anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial activity and are used in ENT practice.

Form of issue, composition

The medication is produced in the form of a spray. The bottle contains an emulsion having a white color and a specific odor. The emulsion may be exfoliated, which is normal. Stratification is eliminated after shaking.
The main components of the drug are chlorobutanol hemihydrate, camphor, eucalyptus oil and levomenthol. In 20 grams of the emulsion of each active ingredient, 200 mg is contained.
As auxiliary substances polysorbate 80, vaseline oil, purified water and emulsifier T-2 are used.

pharmachologic effect

Chlorobutanol hemihydrate shows a weak analgesic, disinfecting action and relieves inflammation.
Racemic camphor exhibits an irritating and slightly disinfecting effect, increases blood supply at the site of use.
Levomenthol shows a local irritating effect, which is accompanied by a feeling of cold, some tingling and burning, and this component has a local anesthetic effect and a slight disinfecting effect.
Eucalyptus oil activates receptors located on the mucous membranes. It also has an easy disinfection effect and inhibits inflammatory processes.

Indications for use

Medication Camethon is prescribed for the following infectious diseases, accompanied by an inflammatory process:
    Pharyngitis (inflammation of the pharynx, accompanied by signs such as a feeling of dryness and perspiration in the throat, severe pain in the throat, increased body temperature, general poor health);
    Laryngitis (inflammation of the larynx and vocal cords, the signs of which are general poor health, fever, soreness during swallowing, shortness of breath, cough, soundless, raspy and hoarse voice);
    Rhinitis (inflammation of the nasal mucosa, which is accompanied by nasal congestion and changes in nasal breathing, as well as sneezing);
    Tonsillitis (inflammatory process in palatine tonsils, which is accompanied by swelling and redness of the palatine arches, increased body temperature, general poor health).

Dosing regimen

The medicine should only be used topically.
Spray should be sprayed into the nasal cavity or mouth during inspiration. When using the tube from the bottle should be at an angle of 90 gr. The end of the tube should be inserted into the mouth or nose approximately 0.5 cm and then press the spray nozzle.
Each inhalation procedure should be followed by 2-3 sprays. Within a day 3-4 procedures are allowed.

Drug Interactions

During the period of application of this medication, any other medicinal products are allowed, since there is no danger of mutual influence of the drug components with other compounds.

Lactation and pregnancy

At the moment, there is no necessary experience in using this medication in patients during lactation and pregnancy. The use of the drug Kameton is permitted to this category of patients, in the absence of undesirable reactions.

Side effects

The use of medication can cause undesirable manifestations if there is an individual high sensitivity to any components of the drug. An allergic reaction may also occur in the form of a rash on the skin.

Contraindications

Medication Camethon should not be administered if there is a high sensitivity to any component of the drug and children under 5 years of age.

At the moment, there are no analogues having a similar composition with the drug Camethon.

Terms and conditions of storage

The drug is stored at a temperature range of 0 to 25 g C in a dark place, remote from small children. The medicine can be used within 2 years from the moment of its release.
