pharmachologic effect

Vasoconstrictive drug for intranasal use. Xylometazoline has an alpha-adrenomimetic effect: it causes a narrowing of the blood vessels of the nasal mucosa and thus eliminates the edema and hyperemia of the nasopharyngeal mucosa. Relieves nasal breathing during rhinitis. In therapeutic concentrations, it does not irritate the mucous membrane, it does not cause hyperemia.
The effect comes in a few minutes after application and lasts for 12 hours.
Sterilized sea water, which is a part of the Rhinomaris preparation, helps maintain the normal physiological state of the mucous membrane of the nasal cavity, dilute the mucus and normalize its production in the goblet cells of the nasal mucosa.
Microelements improve the function of the ciliated epithelium, which can reduce the side-effects of local reactions, such as irritation and / or dryness of the nasopharyngeal mucosa.

Pharmacokinetics

When topical application of Rinomaris is almost not absorbed. Concentrations of the active substance in the blood plasma are so small that they can not be determined by modern analytical methods.

Indications for Rhino Maris

- acute respiratory diseases with phenomena of rhinitis (common cold);
- Allergic rhinitis (pollinosis);
- sinusitis;
- Eustachyte;

- Preparation of the patient for diagnostic manipulation in the nasal passages.

Contraindications

- arterial hypertension;
- tachycardia;
- severe atherosclerosis;
- glaucoma;
- Atrophic rhinitis;
- thyrotoxicosis;
- surgical interventions on the meninges (in the anamnesis);
- Children under 6 years of age (for nasal spray 0.1%);
- Children's age under 2 years (for nasal spray 0.05%);

Dosage

Rinomaris spray nasal dosed 0.05%
Children aged 2 to 6 years: 1 injection in each nostril 1-2 times / day.
Children over 6 years: 1 injection in each nostril 2-3 times / day.
Rinomaris spray nasal dosed 0.1%
Children older than 6 years and adults: 1 injection in each nostril 2-3 times / day.
The drug should not be used more often 4 times / day. The duration of the course is no more than 5-7 days.

Side effects of RhinoMaris

On the part of the respiratory system: with frequent and / or prolonged use - irritation and / or dryness of the mucous membrane of the nasopharynx, burning, tingling, sneezing, hypersecretion, edema of the nasal mucosa.
From the cardiovascular system: a feeling of palpitation, tachycardia, arrhythmias, increased blood pressure.
From the nervous system: headache, insomnia; with prolonged use in high doses - depression.
Other: vomiting, impaired vision.

Overdose

Symptoms: increased side effects.

Drug Interactions

Rinomaris is incompatible with MAO inhibitors and tricyclic antidepressants.
