Composition
- Active ingredient per capsule: 250 mg methylthione nitrooxydihydrotriazolothiazinide sodium dihydrate (Triazavirin)
- Excipients: Calcium stearate 2 mg
- Capsule shell contains titanium dioxide (E171), yellow quinoline (E104), sunset yellow (E110), azorubin (E122), and medical gelatin
Pharmacologic Effect
Triazavirin is a synthetic analogue of purine nucleosides (guanine) with a broad antiviral spectrum against RNA viruses. It inhibits viral RNA synthesis and replication, thus blocking virus reproduction.
Pharmacokinetics
After oral intake, Triazavirin is rapidly absorbed in the gastrointestinal tract. Maximum plasma concentration (Cmax) is reached within 1 to 1.5 hours, averaging 4.8 mcg/ml at recommended dosing.
Indications
- Treatment of influenza in adults
- Can be combined with symptomatic therapy if needed
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to Triazavirin components
- Pregnancy and breastfeeding
- Children under 18 years (safety and efficacy not established)
- Renal or hepatic insufficiency (not studied)
Dosing and Administration
Begin treatment within 2 days of symptom onset.
Take 1 capsule (250 mg) three times daily (total daily dose 750 mg) for 5 days. Treatment may be extended up to 7 days if necessary.
Can be taken regardless of meals.
Use During Pregnancy and Lactation
Safety has not been studied. Avoid use during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Breastfeeding should be stopped if treatment is necessary.
Side Effects

- Digestive issues: flatulence, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting
Notify your doctor if side effects worsen or new symptoms occur.
Drug Interactions
- Concurrent use with purine or pyrimidine analogues (e.g., antitumor drugs) may increase toxicity
- When used with ribavirin, a ribavirin dose reduction is recommended
Overdose
Symptoms: nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, dyspepsia.
Treatment is symptomatic and includes stopping Triazavirin intake.
