Composition Complivit Calcium D3

A chewable tablet with an orange (or mint) taste contains calcium carbonate 1.25 g and vitamin D3 (colcalciferol in granular form) 5 μg.
Complivit Calcium D3 Forte contains an increased dose of colcalciferol - 10 μg.
Additional components: powder flavor (orange, mint), citric acid, povidone, magnesium stearate, aspartame, starch, lactose.
The composition of the granulate: sodium aluminosilicate, butylhydroxytoluene, colcalciferol, water, modified starch, sucrose, medium chain triglycerides, gelatin.
Powder for the preparation of baby suspension contains 1000 IU of vitamin D3 and 10 g of calcium in the form of carbonate.

Form of issue

Complivit Calcium D3 is available in the form of round chewable tablets with a porous, rough surface with various flavors (mint, orange). The form is biconvex. Tablets of white-cream color with individual gray impregnations.
For children, the medication is available in powder form in dark vials of 43 g.

pharmachologic effect

Two-component medicament, the medicinal effect of which consists of the effects of active components. The drug promotes the mineralization of bone tissue, stimulates the reabsorption of phosphates in the renal system, increases the absorption of calcium from the intestinal lumen.
The medication can compensate for the deficiency of colcalciferol and calcium, increase bone density, reduce bone resorption, regulate the metabolism of phosphates and calcium in the body.
Calcium takes part in the process of blood clotting and the formation of the bone system, in the transmission of impulses along the neuromuscular tract. Provides stable operation and functioning of the cardiovascular system.
Kolekaltsiferol promotes mineralization of dental tissue and bone system, participates in their formation. Provides a full absorption of Ca from the lumen of the intestine, the digestive tract.
The combined use of colcalciferol and calcium enhances the production of parathyroid hormone, acting as a stimulant for bone resorption.

Pharmacodynamics and pharmacokinetics

Absorption of colcalciferol occurs in the lumen of the small intestine. Through the vitamin D-dependent mechanism of transport in the proximal portion of the small intestine, calcium is absorbed in ionized form.

Indications for use

    deficient conditions for vitamin D3 and calcium (prevention, treatment);
    complex treatment of all forms of osteoporosis (senile, menopausal, idiopathic, steroid).
A medication can be prescribed and with a preventive purpose.

Contraindications

    phenylketonuria (in the composition - aspartame);
    hypervitaminosis D;
    hypercalciuria;
    osteoporosis on the background of immobilization;
    chronic pathology of the renal system;
    pulmonary tuberculosis (active stage);
    calcium nefrourolithiasis;
    decalcifying neoplasms (sarcoidosis, metastases to the bone system, myeloma);
    hypercalcemia;
    individual hypersensitivity.
The age limit is up to 3 years.

Side effects

Metabolism:

    hypercalciuria;
    hypercalcemia.

The digestive tract:

    diarrheal syndrome;
    pain in the stomach;
    constipation;
    increased gassing;
    nausea.
Allergic responses are rarely recorded.

Complivit Calcium D3, instructions for use (Method and dosage)

Therapy of osteoporosis: 2-3 times a day for 1 tablet. With the preventive purpose, 1 tablet is prescribed twice a day.
If vitamin D3 and calcium are deficient, 1 tablet 1-2 times a day is prescribed (adults and children from 12 years old). In pediatric practice for children 3-5 years, the dose is selected taking into account individual characteristics, concomitant pathology; children 5-12 years - 1-2 tablets per day. How to take pills: you can both chew and swallow whole while eating.

Instruction for kids

The dosage form in the form of a powder is specially developed for use in pediatric practice (the age category is up to 3 years). A powder is prepared from the powder, taken during meals inside.

How to prepare a suspension?

Vial thoroughly shake to completely separate the powder particles from the walls and bottom, add warm boiled water, filling 2/3 of the vial. Shake for 2 minutes, achieving structural homogeneity of the solution, then add water to the neck of the vial, shake thoroughly. Vial with powder and suspension should be shaken before each use.

Overdose

    fainting;
    decreased appetite;
    coma;
    headache;
    constipation;
    dyspeptic manifestations;
    polyuria;
    thirst.
Prolonged intake of large doses causes calcification of organs, tissues, vessels. By the results of biochemical analysis, hypercalcemia and hypercalciuria are determined.
Therapy includes measures for rehydration, taking "loop" diuretics, glucocorticosteroids, bisphosphonates, calcitonin.
Effectively the appointment of a diet with restricted intake of Ca. Good effect gives hemodialysis.

Interaction

Thiazide diuretics increase the risk of hypercalcemia, due to their ability to enhance the reabsorption of Ca in tubules. The reverse effect (increased excretion of the renal system of calcium from the body) is recorded during therapy with "loop" diuretics (Furosemide).
Absorption of colcalciferol is reduced in the treatment of laxative medicines based on vegetable oil (or mineral oil). A similar effect is observed with the reception of Kolestyramine.
Glucocorticosteroid therapy may require a dose adjustment. Complivit Calcium D3 (a dosage increase is more often required).
The time interval between the use of Complivit and Na fluoride, bisphosphonates should not be less than 2 hours.
The drug can increase the absorption rate of tetracycline (and similar antibiotics) from the digestive tract, so it is recommended to maintain a 3-hour break between receptions.
Cardiac glycosides require a more thorough examination of a patient with cardiovascular pathology, since Ca preparations can enhance both the toxic effect and the therapeutic effect of most glycosides.
The effectiveness of colcalciferol is reduced when treated with barbiturates and phenytoin.

Storage conditions

Restriction on the storage mode - up to 25 degrees, in a dry place. Ready suspension can not be frozen (store in the refrigerator - up to 15 degrees.)
Shelf life - 2 years. The finished suspension can be stored for 20 days without loss of therapeutic effect.

special instructions

The medication contains aspartame, which is capable of transforming to phenylalanine, which limits the use of the drug in patients with phenylketonuria. It is mandatory to monitor the excretion of calcium with urine, creatinine and Ca based on the results of biochemical analysis.
At the registration of calciuria (more than 7.5 mmol per day), treatment is stopped (dose reduction possible). In elderly patients, the daily requirement for colcalciferol is 500-1000 IU, in calcium 1500 mg. The attending doctor should calculate the dose of the medication taking into account the intake of colcalciferol and calcium from other possible sources.

For children, Complivit Calcium D3 for babies

Instruction for children under 1 year: 1 time per day for 5 ml of the prepared suspension.
The doctors' testimonies indicate that there is enough a month course for replenishing the calcium and vitamin D3 deficiency in the children's body. For children over 1 year, a single dose of 5-10 ml.

Reviews of Complivit Calcium D3

The medication is well tolerated and is one of the main drugs that treating doctors actively prescribe to their patients with the corresponding pathology. Complivit Calcium D3 Forte contains an increased dose of colcalciferol and can be prescribed at the beginning of therapy followed by a transition to vitamin K Complizit Calcium D3.
