The drug Magnelis B6 is a drug whose therapeutic effect is based on the replacement of magnesium deficiency in the body.

Composition and form of the drug

Magnelis B6 is available in tablets for oral use, convex on both sides coated with a white protective coat.
The preparation is packed in blisters of 10 pieces of 3 or 5 blisters in a cardboard box or 100 pieces in cans of polymer material with the accompanying instruction.
Each Magnelis B6 tablet contains 470 mg of magnesium lactate and 5 mg of pyridoxine hydrochloride (vitamin B6). In addition to the main active ingredients, the preparation contains a number of auxiliary substances.

Pharmacological properties of the drug

Magnelis B6 replenishes the deficiency of magnesium in the body.
Magnesium is a microelement, whose role in the human body is difficult to overestimate. It is located in the tissues and cells of internal organs and ensures their full functioning. Magnesium takes an active part in metabolic processes, regulates the transmission of nerve impulses to neurons of the brain and muscle contraction. In addition, magnesium has an insignificant antispasmodic effect, prevents the process of gluing blood cells (platelets), improves the functioning of the heart muscle.
With a deficiency of magnesium in the body, a person becomes excessively irritable, suffers from insomnia, often it is troubled by gastrocnemius muscle cramps and pain in the region of the heart.
Pyridoxine hydrochloride, which is part of the drug, improves the absorption of magnesium from the digestive tract, and also takes an active part in metabolic processes.

Indications for use

The drug Magnes B6 is prescribed to patients with an established magnesium deficiency in the body, and also as a preventive agent under the following conditions:
    Increased physical and mental stress;
    The period of bearing of the child and breastfeeding of the infant;
    Increased irritability, decreased concentration of attention;
    Frequent pain in the heart, not caused by diseases of the myocardium and coronary vessels;
    Frequent cramps of the calf muscles;
    Insomnia.

Contraindications for Magnelis B6

Despite the usefulness of the drug, self-medication is not worth it. The drug can be used only on the prescription of a doctor after clinical studies of urine and blood. Before starting therapy, you should carefully read the attached instructions, since the drug has a number of the following contraindications:
    Severe renal insufficiency;
    Hereditary disease phenylketonuria;
    The age of children under 6 years (in particular due to lack of experience in the application);
    Individual hypersensitivity to the drug.
Relative contraindications include moderate failure of kidney function, since in this case, against the background of therapy, the risk of hypermagnesemia increases.

Method of administration and dosing regimen

According to the instructions, patients over 16 years of age are prescribed 2 tablets of the drug 3-4 times a day, which depends on the degree of magnesium deficiency. The drug can be taken regardless of food, if necessary, crushing and washing with a lot of water.
The duration of the course of therapy is determined by a specialist and continues until the level of magnesium in the blood serum is normalized.

Use during pregnancy and breastfeeding

During the clinical trials, the teratogenic or embryotoxic effect of Magnelis B6 for pregnant women has not been established, however, this remedy can be used by future mothers only upon doctor's prescription. The dose of the drug is determined by the doctor-gynecologist on the basis of the results of the tests.
Magnesium is excreted in breast milk, therefore, this drug should be avoided for women during lactation. This is due to the lack of information regarding the safety of the effect of the drug on the baby's organism. If therapy is necessary, it is recommended that you consult with your doctor or resolve the issue of interruption of lactation.

Adverse Events

The preparation Magnelis B6 is well tolerated by patients and only in persons with hypersensitivity to the components of the drug against the background of therapy can develop negative reactions:
    Abdominal pain, bloating, constipation, nausea, in rare cases vomiting;
    Allergic skin rash, itching;
    Hives.

Overdose

With normal functioning of the kidneys, there are no signs of an overdose in patients. In persons with impaired renal function when large doses of medicine are ingested, signs of toxic magnesium poisoning develop:
    Reduction of blood pressure, dizziness, collapse;
    Oppression of reflexes;
    Bradycardia, oppression of the respiratory center, coma.
In severe cases, in the absence of timely medical care, the patient has a lethal outcome.
Treatment of an overdose of magnesium in people with kidney disorders is the immediate conduct of hemodialysis, rehydration and normalization of diuresis. The patient is left under medical supervision.

Interaction of Magnelis B6 with other drugs

It is not recommended to combine Magnelis B6 with medicines containing phosphates or calcium, as with such a drug interaction, magnesium absorption from the gastrointestinal tract decreases.
With the simultaneous use of Magnelis B6 with Tetracyclin, the absorption of the latter decreases, as a result of which the therapeutic effect will be inadequate. If necessary, drug interaction should withstand an interval of at least 3 hours.
Magnesium prevents the full absorption of iron by the walls of the small intestine, therefore it is not recommended to combine Magnelis B6 with drugs for the treatment of anemia.
Under the influence of pyridoxine, which is part of the drug, the therapeutic effect of Levodopa is inhibited.
