Composition

The composition of 1 gram of Fucicort cream contains 20 mg of fusidic acid, 1 mg of betamethasone.
Auxiliary components: cetostearyl alcohol, macrogol cetostearate, chlorocresol, liquid paraffin, sodium dihydrogenphosphate dihydrate, sodium hydroxide, white paraffin, water.

Form of issue

Homogeneous white cream (ointment) for external use.
15, 60 or 30 grams of cream in an aluminum tube; one tube in a cardboard box.

pharmachologic effect

Local antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, glucocorticoid action.

Pharmacodynamics and pharmacokinetics

Pharmacodynamics

Bicomponent drug for external use, including antibiotic and glucocorticoid.
Fusidic acid has a polycyclic structure. Acts mainly on Gram-positive bacteria: Propionibacterium acnes, St. aureus and corynebacteria. Suppresses the biosynthesis of bacterial proteins. Stability of microorganisms to this antibiotic is rare. Most often, bacteria that are resistant to Penicillin and other antibacterial agents are sensitive to fusidic acid.
Betamethasone is a fairly potent glucocorticosteroid, suppresses local immune responses, such as swelling, vasodilation and pain.

Pharmacokinetics

The absorption of fusidic acid into the systemic circulation is insignificant.
In contact with the skin, absorption of betamethasone can lead to systemic effects, especially when applied under occlusive dressings or on large areas of affected skin. With external application of Fucicort, the absorption of betamethasone through the skin is up to 2%.
After absorption, betamethasone is transformed in the liver and excreted in the urine.

Indications for use

Skin diseases of an infectious-inflammatory nature, caused by sensitive bacteria:
    dermatitis;
    allergic eczema with signs of infection;
    toxemia.

Contraindications

    Perioral dermatitis.
    Rosacea.
    Youthful acne.
    Lupus.
Viral, fungal and bacterial skin lesions.
Manifestations of syphilis on the skin.
Hypersensitivity to the components of the drug.
    Age less than 1 year.

Side effects

Skin reactions: exacerbation of eczema, rash, skin irritation, burning sensation, itching, contact dermatitis, skin atrophy, dry skin, erythema. Although these reactions have not been observed with Fucicort, prolonged external use of glucocorticosteroids can cause telangiectasia and striae. As with other glucocorticosteroid agents, depigmentation, folliculitis, perioral dermatitis, hypertrichosis, hemorrhagic rash, rosacea, sweating, systemic undesirable effects, maceration of the skin are not excluded.
    Allergic reactions: urticaria.

Features of interaction with other medicinal products have not been studied.

special instructions

It is necessary to use with caution ointment for genital and perianal itching, under occlusive dressings, extensive skin lesions, in areas of diaper rash and face, in the periorbital area.
As with other antibiotics, excessive or repeated use of the drug may increase the risk of resistance to antibacterial agents.
It is forbidden to apply the drug to wounds and mucous membranes.
If the use of the drug causes skin irritation, then immediately stop using it and begin other appropriate treatment.
In case of cancellation of treatment, development of withdrawal syndrome is possible, which is manifested by redness, burning sensation or exacerbation of psoriasis. These phenomena can be prevented with a slow withdrawal of the drug.
After prolonged external therapy with potent corticosteroid drugs, atrophic changes are most often found on the genitals, face, lower and upper extremities.
The drug includes chlorocresol, which is capable of provoking allergic phenomena, and cetostearyl alcohol, causing skin rashes.
In view of the fact that in children the ratio of body surface area and weight is greater than in adult patients, children are more at risk of suppressing the work of the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal system and the appearance of Cushing's syndrome with the use of any external glucocorticosterids. Long-term therapy of children with glucocorticosteroids can lead to changes in the growth and development of the child's body.
When treating children, the drug should be used at the lowest effective dose.
Fucicort does not affect the ability to drive vehicles.
