Cardiomagnil instruction manual

The drug Cardiomagnil is a representative of the clinical and pharmacological group of medicines antiaggregants. It is used to prevent thrombosis in various pathologies of the cardiovascular system.

Form of issue and composition

The drug Cardiomagnesium is available in the form of a tablet, coated with an enteric-coated oral solution (oral administration). They contain 2 active substances - acetylsalicylic acid 75 or 150 mg and magnesium hydroxide 15.2 or 30.9 mg in one tablet. Also, the tablet contains auxiliary components, which include:
    Potato and cornstarch.
    Magnesium stearate.
    Hypromellose.
    Mycrocrystalline cellulose.
    Talc.
    Propylene glycol.
Tablets are white, their shape is styled in the form of a heart. They are contained in a bottle of dark glass. One cardboard pack contains a vial of tablets and instructions for the use of the drug.

pharmachologic effect

Acetylsalicylic acid, which is part of the drug, is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug. It inhibits (inhibits) the enzyme cycloxygenase (COX 1 and 2), which catalyzes the conversion of arachidonic acid into prostaglandins. Prostaglandins, in addition to pro-inflammatory action, also participate in platelet aggregation (gluing) during the formation of an intravascular thrombus. Accordingly, COX suppression leads to a decrease in prostaglandins and the likelihood of thrombosis. The maximum antiaggregation effect is manifested when the dosage of acetylsalicylic acid is 75-150 mg, higher dosages are used for anesthetic, anti-inflammatory effect and lower body temperature for various inflammatory pathologies.
Magnesium hydroxide is included in the preparation to reduce the negative effects of acetylsalicylic acid on the mucosa of the upper parts of the digestive tract.
After taking the Cardiomagnesium tablet, acetylsalicylic acid is quickly and almost completely absorbed into the systemic bloodstream from the intestinal lumen. It is evenly distributed in all tissues of the body and is metabolized in the liver. Inactive products of metabolism of acetylsalicylic acid are excreted from the body with urine. The half-life (half of the entire dose) lasts about 12 hours. Magnesium hydroxide is not absorbed into the systemic bloodstream, its pharmacological effect is realized directly in the upper parts of the digestive tract.

Indications for use

Receiving tablets Cardiomagnet is indicated for various pathological conditions, accompanied by an increased risk of intravascular thrombosis:
Unstable angina is a significant impairment of blood circulation in the heart with a high probability of myocardial infarction (death of the site of the heart muscle).
Prevention of intravascular thrombus formation in diabetes mellitus, heart failure, obesity, smoking, hypertension with a prolonged and marked increase in systemic blood pressure, and old age.
Prevention of repeated myocardial infarction or intravascular thrombosis.
Also, the drug is used to prevent thromboembolism (intravascular thrombus formation with its subsequent migration in arteries with blood and blockage of one of them) after performing vascular surgery, in particular coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG), percutaneous coronary angioplasty.

Contraindications

The use of tablets Cardiomagnesium is contraindicated in pathological conditions (especially if there is a high risk of subsequent bleeding or hemorrhage into internal organs), they include:
Hemorrhage in the structure of the central nervous system, in particular in the brain.
    Gastrointestinal bleeding.
Pathological tendency to develop bleeding is a lack of vitamin K in the body, hemorrhagic diathesis, thrombocytopenia.
Erosive and ulcerative pathology of digestive tract structures, characterized by a high risk of bleeding from the mucosal defect, especially in the exacerbation phase of the pathological process.
Deficiency of the enzyme glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase, which affects the structural and functional state of erythrocytes.
Parallel administration of the drug methotrexate.
    Children under 18 years.
The period of pregnancy in the I and II trimester of her course, as well as breastfeeding.
    Renal failure is severe.
Bronchial asthma, the development of which is triggered by the intake of any drugs of the pharmacological group, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs.
Individual intolerance to acetylsalicylic acid, magnesium hydroxide or auxiliary components of the drug.
With caution the drug is used for hepatic or renal insufficiency of mild and moderate severity, gout, erosion or gastric ulcer in remission (clinico-laboratory improvement), "aspirin triad" (bronchial asthma, nasal polyposis, aspirin intolerance), pregnancy in III trimester. Before you start taking pills, you should make sure that there are no contraindications.

Dosing and Administration

Tablets Cardiomagnet taken internally as a whole, they are not chewed and washed down with a sufficient amount of water. For primary prevention of thrombosis in cardiovascular disease, the dosage of the drug is 75 mg once a day, the tablet is usually taken in the evening at 19.00, the course of treatment is lifelong. If it is necessary to prevent the development of recurrent myocardial infarction, with unstable angina, the dose varies between 75-150 mg per day. The same dosage is used to prevent thrombosis after vascular surgery. Duration of treatment the doctor sets individually.

Side effects

Receiving tablets Cardiomagnet can lead to the development of undesirable negative reactions from various organs and systems, they include:
Digestive system - heartburn often develops, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain with predominant localization in the stomach, ulceration or erosion of the upper digestive tract, development of gastrointestinal bleeding may be less likely. Single cases of perforation (formation of a through hole) ulcers of the stomach or duodenum, colitis (inflammation of the large intestine), irritable bowel syndrome on the background of taking the drug are described.
Nervous system - headache, periodic dizziness, drowsiness or vice versa insomnia, tinnitus, very rarely there can be intracranial hemorrhage.
Respiratory system - bronchospasm (narrowing of the lumen of the bronchi due to a significant increase in the tone of the smooth muscles of their walls).
Red bone marrow and blood system - increased bleeding due to insufficient aggregation of platelets, less often anemia (anemia). Very rarely there is a decrease in the number of thrombocytes (thrombocytopenia) and neutrophils (neutropenia).
Allergic reactions - cases of development of angioedema of Quincke (the exit of plasma into the intercellular substance of the facial tissues and external genital organs), less often anaphylactic shock (severe systemic allergic reaction with pronounced decrease in arterial pressure and development of multiple organ failure) are described quite often.
The development of side effects after taking the pill Cardiomagnesium is the basis for the withdrawal of the drug.

special instructions

Before you start taking Cardiomagnesium tablets, you should carefully read the instructions for the drug, make sure there are no contraindications. Also, you should pay attention to a number of special instructions, which include:
Receiving pills Cardiomagnesium can trigger an attack of bronchial asthma, especially if it has occurred in a patient in the past.
Before the scheduled surgery for several days, the drug may be discontinued, which is associated with the prevention of possible bleeding.
The combination of the use of the drug with other drugs of the clinical and pharmacological group antiaggregants and anticoagulants (prevent blood clotting) significantly increases the risk of subsequent bleeding.
Acetylsalicylic acid can provoke the development of gout in individuals with reduced uric acid excretion in the urine.
The combination of taking cardiomagnesium tablets with methotrexate increases the risk of side effects from the organs of blood and blood system.
Parallel use of glucocorticosteroids reduces the level of acetylsalicylic acid in the body, so after their withdrawal, the development of an overdose of acetylsalicylic acid is possible.
High doses of the drug can trigger the development of hypoglycemia (lowering blood glucose levels), which is important to consider in individuals with concomitant disorders of carbohydrate metabolism (diabetes mellitus).
It is not recommended to take alcohol during treatment with the drug, as this increases the risk of developing gastrointestinal bleeding.
Excludes a combination of taking Cardiomagnesium tablets with ibuprofen in connection with an increased risk of developing various cardiovascular complications.
The drug does not have a direct effect on the functional activity of the cerebral cortex, but in connection with the possible development of complications, care must be taken during the performance of work requiring increased attention and speed of psychomotor reactions.
In the pharmacy network, Cardiomagnesium tablets are dispensed without a doctor's prescription. Nevertheless, it is not recommended to start using them without the appropriate doctor's prescription.

Overdose

With a slight excess of the recommended therapeutic dose of Cardiomagnesium tablets, tinnitus, nausea, vomiting, dizziness and confusion may develop. Treatment of such an overdose consists of washing the stomach, intestines, using intestinal sorbents (activated charcoal) and symptomatic therapy. A significant excess of the dose (severe overdose) can lead to fever (fever), rapid breathing (hyperventilation of the lungs), which leads to the development of alkalosis (alkaline blood reaction) with marked disruption of the functional activity of the central nervous and cardiovascular system. In this case, emergency hospitalization in hospital and treatment in the intensive care unit.

Analogues of Cardiomagnesium tablets

According to the active substance and clinical-therapeutic effect for Cardiomagnesium tablets, Aspirin Cardio is similar.

Terms and conditions of storage

Shelf life of Cardiomagnesium tablets is 5 years from the date of their manufacture. The drug should be stored in a dry place inaccessible to children at an air temperature not exceeding + 25 ° C.
