Composition

Cream Dermazin in an amount of 1 gram contains 10 mg of silver sulfadiazine.
Additional substances: polysorbate 60, cetyl alcohol, propylene glycol, peanut butter, propyl parahydroxybenzoate, methylparahydroxybenzoate, water.

Form of issue

White homogeneous cream:
    50 grams in an aluminum tube, one tube in a cardboard box.

Pharmacodynamics

Antimicrobial agent for external use, sulfonamide. When applied to the burn surface, sulfadiazine silver begins to disintegrate, slowly releasing the molecules of sulfanilamide and silver, which ensures inhibition of growth and reproduction of infectious cells.
Dermazin has a large range of antibacterial activity, including all types of microorganisms that cause infection of wounds, including burns (Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, genus Staphylococcus, Proteus, Klebsiella, Streptococcus, Enterobacter), and yeast fungi (Candida albicans), and a number strains of herpesvirus.
It is able to penetrate into exudate and necrotic tissues.

Pharmacokinetics

With long-term therapy of burn wounds on a vast surface, the drug is absorbed into the bloodstream. The concentrations of sulfonamide in the serum are proportional to the surface area of ​​the burn and the amount of cream applied.
60% of the sulfadiazine released into the blood is excreted unchanged in the urine, the half-life is 10 hours.

Indications for use of Dermazin

Indications for use of dermasin are listed below:
    treatment and prevention of burn infections;
    treatment and prevention of infection of wounds of various origin, trophic ulcers.

Contraindications

    hypersensitivity to the components of the drug and other sulfonamides;
    age less than 2 months;
    the period of childbirth;
    Ointment Dermazin is forbidden to use in newborns premature babies.

Side effects

    Local reactions: burning, itching.
    Reactions from hematopoiesis: temporary leukopenia and neutropenia.
    There are rare reports of the occurrence of erythema multiforme, skin necrosis, changes in pigmentation and interstitial nephritis.
    In even more rare cases, sulfanilamide side reactions are detected: agranulocytosis, aplastic anemia, leukopenia, thrombocytopenia, hepatocellular necrosis, hemolytic anemia, exfoliative dermatitis, hepatitis, dyspepsia, neurologic reactions, toxic nephrosis.

Instructions for use (Method and dosage)

Instructions for the ointment allows you to apply it with and without bandages. This product is intended for application only to the skin.

Cream Dermazin, instructions for use

After treating the burn surgically, the cream is applied a layer of up to 4 mm thick once or twice a day.
The treatment is continued until the burn or wound is completely healed. The method of application is the same for the treatment of trophic ulcers and burns. Dressings must be changed daily.

Overdose

Signs of overdose: with prolonged use on a large surface, the content of sulfadiazine in the blood can approximate to that in systemic application with characteristic side effects.
Treatment of an overdose: symptomatic, copious drink.

Interaction

Sulfadiazine silver inactivates enzyme-type preparations for the purification of wounds when combined.
With the simultaneous use of cimetidine, the risk of leukopenia increases.

Storage conditions

Keep away from children. Store at room temperature.

special instructions

It is recommended to prescribe with caution the drug to people with hypersensitivity to sulfanilamides (possible the development of cross reactions), with a deficiency of glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase (possibly development of hemolysis), with impaired liver and kidney function (possibly accumulation of the drug), with porphyria.
With long-term use of Dermazin on a large surface, blood tests should be monitored because of possible thrombocytopenia, leukopenia, or eosinophilia.
Do not let Dermazin get into your eyes.

Children

This ointment for burns is not used in children under two years old.

In pregnancy and lactation

It is possible to use the drug during pregnancy only on strict indications.
Lactation is a contraindication for the use of the drug.
