Composition

Side effects

Regaine, instructions for use

Overdose

Unintentional ingestion of the Regaine solution may lead to systemic side effects due to the vasodilator effect of the active ingredient of the minoxidil preparation. It should be remembered that 5 ml of a 2% solution of Regaine include 100 mg of minoxidil, which corresponds to the maximum recommended daily dosage of the drug for the treatment of hypertension, and 5 ml of a 5% solution includes 250 mg of minoxidil, which is 2.5 times higher than this dose. Symptomatic oral intake of large doses of minoxidil can be expressed by lowering blood pressure, fluid retention and tachycardia.

Interaction

Theoretically, with the parallel application of Regene's solution and peripheral vasodilator drugs, it is possible to enhance the existing orthostatic hypotension, but at this time without clinical confirmation of this interaction.
In case of using Regaine and parallel intake of minoxidil inwards for the purpose of therapy of arterial hypertension, it is theoretically possible to increase its serum content insignificantly, although relevant clinical studies in this direction have not been carried out.
The administration of Regaine solution to patients suffering from hypertension and taking guanethidine or its derivatives is possible only under constant medical supervision.
It is proved that the solution interacts with some other external (local) drugs. Thus, the combined use of Regaine and 0.05% cream containing betamethasone reduced the absorption of minoxidil, and the parallel use of external agents with dithranol and tretinoin, causing changes in their protective functions in the skin, may increase the absorption of minoxidil.
