Local antifungal.

Pharmacodynamics and pharmacokinetics

Suppositories and ointment Zalain are an antifungal medication, the active ingredient of which is a derivative of benzothiophene and imidazole. Local application of therapeutic dosages of the drug is characterized by fungicidal and fungistatic efficacy. The central mechanism of action is aimed at suppressing the processes of ergosterol synthesis and increasing the permeability of mycosis cell membranes, which is actually the cause of lysis of the fungal cell.
The antifungal activity of the preparation extends to strains of fungi of the genus Candida. Antibacterial efficacy is evident in gram-positive microorganisms (Staphylococcus and Streptococcus).
In the case of topical application, sertaconazole nitrate is not detected either in the patient's blood or in his urine. When intravaginal use is not observed absorption of the active ingredient of the drug.

Indications for use

Cream Zalain is indicated for use in the treatment of superficial cutaneous mycoses, including: mycosis of brushes, feet and shins; mycosis beard; mycoses of the trunk; colored lichen; candidiasis.
Zalain suppositories are prescribed for local therapy of infections of the vaginal mucous membranes provoked by strains of the fungi of the genus Candida (thrush / candidiasis vulvovaginitis).

Contraindications

The use of all dosage forms of the drug is contraindicated if the patient has a personal hypersensitivity to any imidazole derivatives (including sertaconazole) or additional ingredients of drugs.

Side effects

When using the cream, sometimes the formation of local reactions manifested in the form of contact dermatitis was noted. Also, it is possible to develop rapid-flowing erythematous phenomena that do not require discontinuation of treatment.
Suppositories from the thrush occasionally led to allergic manifestations, as well as burning sensations in the vagina, which did not need to cancel the drug and disappeared on further therapy. These side effects are classified as classical effects observed with the use of local vaginal dosage forms, and reflect the effectiveness of the drug.

Zalain Reviews

In comparison with other creams and ointments having such an antifungal effect, reviews about Zalain cream are noticeably more positive. Many patients who have experienced several similar local drugs, put the best evaluation of the effectiveness, duration and safety of Zalain and recommend this cream to all of their friends who suffer from the same infectious diseases.
Reviews of Zalain candles are also generally positive in most cases and often speak of effective treatment of thrush using only one suppository. In turn, comparing drugs analogues in terms of safety and frequency of recurrence of infection and relying on their own experience, some women advise to use these candles in pregnancy, but caution against the independent appointment of such treatment in favor of the mandatory decision of the possibility of antifungal therapy by a doctor.
