Licopid is a medicinal preparation in the form of tablets, which has an immunomodulatory effect, which is used as a component of combined therapy of acquired immunodeficiencies.
The active component of the drug is glucosaminylmuramyl dipeptide, which is structurally similar to the structural component of the cell wall of the bacterial cell - peptidoglycan. Under his influence, the congenital and acquired immunity is activated, the body's defenses strengthened to fight various pathogenic microorganisms, and the immune response is strengthened.
The mechanism of action is due to the fact that in the endoplasm of phagocytes and lymphocytes there are specific receptors of glucosaminylmuramyl dipeptide. When taking the drug occurs activation of phagocytosis, stimulation of reproduction of lymphocytes, increasing the formation of antibodies. Under its action, there is an increase in the synthesis of interleukins, interferons, tumor necrosis factor and colony-stimulating factor. There is also an increase in the activity of cells of natural killers.

    diseases caused by human papillomavirus;
    viral hepatitis;
    various forms of psoriasis;
    tuberculosis infection of the lungs.

    exacerbation of Hashimoto's disease;
    hereditary enzymopathies;
    diseases accompanied by fever to fever;
    period of pregnancy and breastfeeding;

Dosing and Administration

The drug in a dosage of 10 mg is administered orally on an empty stomach, half an hour before a meal with the following diseases:
    purulent infections of the skin and subcutaneous fat, pulmonary tuberculosis and HPV infection: 1 tablet once a day for 10 days;
    infection of the eyes with herpesvirus: 1 tablet 2 times 3 days. After three days, therapy must be repeated;
    psoriasis: 1-2 tablets 1-2 times a day for 10 days and then every other day for another 10 days; with a significant severity of the disease or generalized lesion: 1 tablet 2 times a day for 20 days.
Sublingually, the drug is used for severe herpesvirus infection 1 tablet 1-2 times a day. The course of treatment is 6 days.
For the treatment of children and adolescents under 16 years of age, a dosage of 1 mg is used.

Side effects

    in the initial period, a possible short-term occurrence of hyperthermia within 38 C, which does not require the abolition of treatment;
    occasionally, fever over fever may occur;
    from the side of the digestive tract, diarrhea is possible.

special instructions

    use of the immunomodulator by pregnant or breast-feeding is contraindicated;
    the drug is not prescribed with sulfonamides or tetracyclines;

    the drug stimulates the effectiveness of antibacterial agents of penicillin, cephalosporin, polyene derivatives and fluoroquinolones;

    Polyoxidonium is available in powder form for the preparation of injections and topical application, tablets and vaginal and rectal suppositories. The active component is azoximer bromide. It acts directly on phagocytes, natural killers and stimulates the formation of antibodies. It is indicated for correction of immune system functions for adults and children from 6 months.
