Composition

Form of issue

Medication can be purchased in the form of a spray, cream, solution.
The solution for intramuscular injection of alpha-glu- matyl-tryptophan is practically colorless. It is produced in 1 ml ampoules. There are 5 ampoules in cardboard packs.
Spray Thymogen is applied nasally, so the dosed vial has a specific shape. Volumes: 3.5.10 ml. The contents of the bottle may have a characteristic odor.
Thymogen sodium is alpha-glutamyl-tryptophan in the form of sodium salt. Produced in the form of a white cream with a yellowish, pearly hue. The cream can be packed in glass jars or aluminum tubes (capacity 20 or 30 g).

The active component is a dipeptide of synthetic origin, which includes amino acid residues of tryptophan and glutamine. The drug has a pronounced immunostimulating effect, which is achieved by activating the body's own tentative forces. The medication is able to increase the nonspecific resistance of the organism, activate the activity of macrophages, monocytes, and increase the intensity of phagocytic activity of neutrophils. Anti-mediator properties are recorded. High efficiency of the drug is observed with suppressor immunodeficiencies of the "T" type.

Pharmacodynamics and pharmacokinetics

Given the peptide nature of Thymogen, the study of its pharmacodynamics and pharmacokinetics is not possible.

Indications for use

The medication is used in the complex therapy of infectious pathology, which occurs or is accompanied by low rates of cellular immunity. The drug is prescribed for the necrosis of tissues, with the formation of necrotic processes, after injuries and fractures in the suppression of repair (reparative) processes. The drug can be prescribed after surgery to prevent complications of an infectious-inflammatory nature.

With a preventive purpose, Thymogen is prescribed for:

    bacterial, viral, chlamydial infections;
    oppression of their own hematopoiesis;
    when braking regenerative processes;
    chemotherapy;
    treatment with large doses of antibiotics;
    with diseases of the respiratory system.

Thymogen cream is prescribed for:

    eczema (microbial, true, chronic);
    dermatitis (secondary, atopic);
    traumatic lesions (chemical, mechanical, thermal);
    pyoderma (chronic form, diffuse streptoderma).

Contraindications

    individual hypersensitivity to alpha-glutamyl-tryptophan;
    breast-feeding;
    period of pregnancy.

Instructions for the use of Thymogen (Method and dosage)

The choice of dosage form of the drug depends on many factors and is carried out by the treating doctor. The injections of Alpha-glutamyl-tryptophan are done intramuscularly. One injection provides a daily action of the active substance in the human body. The course dose for adults is 300-1000 μg (one-time administration of 50-1000 μg). For children, the calculation is carried out on an individual basis, taking into account the severity of the course of the underlying disease, the concomitant pathology, the response to the initial therapy, the age of the child. Depending on the severity of violations of immune functions, treatment can last from 3 to 10 days. Repeated treatment with immunosuppressors is possible after 1-6 months if necessary.
To treat dermatitis, eczema and psoriasis, Thymogen cream is used. Instructions for use: twice a day for 1 g (a strip of 40 mm in length and 5 mm in diameter) applied to the affected skin. Inadmissable application of dressings. The duration of therapy is no more than 20 days.
If there is no possibility of treatment with injection forms, Thymogen spray is prescribed. Instructions for use: twice a day for 1 dose in each nasal passage. With the preventive purpose, the medication is used for 3-5 days, with the medication - 10. It is possible to duplicate the course in 1 month.

Overdose

The symptomatology depends on the dosage form of the medication.
Ten times the permissible single dose of nasal spray causes pollinosis, mucous discharge from the nose, flu-like syndrome.
Intramuscular injection of high doses of the drug increases the severity of adverse reactions.
Cases of cream overdoses are not described. It has been experimentally proven that the toxic effect of the drug is not observed, even if therapeutic doses are exceeded thousands of times.

Interaction

The active component is able to enhance the effect and increase the effectiveness of chemotherapeutic drugs.
