Pharmacodynamics and pharmacokinetics

It is an inhibitor of carbonic anhydrase.
The active ingredient is dorzolamide. In the ciliary body of the eye, Trusopt reduces the production of intraocular fluid. The mechanism of action is based on the slowing down of the formation of hydrocarbonate with the weakening of the transfer of water and sodium ions.
Trusopt does not cause hemorrhagia, miosis, spasm of accommodation.

Indications for use

Trusopt is prescribed for intraocular hypertension, pseudoexfoliation glaucoma, secondary glaucoma, open-angle disease.

Contraindications

Trusopt is not prescribed if the renal system is inadequate, dorzolamide is intolerant. In pediatric practice, with pathology of the liver and pregnancy, use with caution.

Side effects

Blepharitis, eyelid irritation, keratitis, conjunctivitis, visual impairment, lacrimation, itching, paresthesia, increased corneal thickness, burning, iridocyclitis, allergies.
Among systemic side effects, asthenia, nausea, bitter taste in the mouth, nephrourolythiasis, Lyell's syndrome, anemia are recorded.

Eye drops Trusopt, instructions for use (Method and dosage)

Trusopt is buried in the affected eye three times a day for 1 drop.
When combined treatment with beta-blockers Trusopt is used twice a day.
When using several ophthalmic medicines at the same time, it is recommended to observe a minimum interval of ten minutes.

Overdose

Interaction

Acetazolamide increases the likelihood of developing systemic side effects. Antiglaucoma drugs enhance the effectiveness of Truso.
The drug can be prescribed with betaxolol, thymol, diuretics, ACE inhibitors.
Taking large doses of acetylsalicylic acid increases the toxicity of the drug.
