Pharmacological properties

The broad-spectrum antimicrobial agent from the group of fluoroquinolones acts on the bacterial DNA-gyrase enzyme, which provides supercoiling and thus the stability of bacterial DNA (the destabilization of DNA chains leads to their death). Has a bactericidal effect. It is active against microorganisms producing beta-lactamase and fast-growing atypical mycobacteria. Sensitive: Staphylococcus aureus, Staphylococcus epidermidis, Neisseria gonorrhoeae, Neisseria meningitidis, Escherichia coli, Citrobacter, Klebsiella spp. (including Klebsiella pneumonia), Enterobacler spp., Hafnia, Proteus spp. (including Proteus mirabilis, Proteus vulgaris - indole-positive and indolotric). Salmonella spp., Shigella spp. (including Shigella sonnei), Yersinia enterocolitica, Campylobacter jejuni, Aeromonas hydrophila, Plesiomonas aemginosa. It acts on Treponema pallidum.
In ophthalmology and otorhinolaryngology, they are used to treat eye and hearing infections caused by sensitive strains: Chlamydia trachomatis, Enterobacter cloacae, Haemophilus influenzae, Proteus mirabilis, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Staphylococcus aureus, Staphylococcus epidermidis, Streptococcus pneumoniae.

Indications for use

In ophthalmology - bacterial ulcers of the cornea, conjunctivitis, blepharitis, dacryocystitis, keratitis, chlamydial infections of the eyes, prevention of infectious complications in the postoperative period after surgical intervention for the removal of foreign body and eye trauma.
In otorhinolaryngology - acute and chronic bacterial external and internal otitis, otitis with perforation of the tympanic membrane or its puncture; prevention of infectious complications in surgical interventions.

Contraindications for Uniflox

Hypersensitivity to the components of Uniflox or other quinolone derivatives.
Chronic non-bacterial conjunctiva or otitis. Pregnancy, lactation. Childhood.

Dosing and Administration

Locally.
In ophthalmology - 1-2 drops in the kopyuktivny bag every hour for the first 2 days; in the next 2-3 days for 1 - 2 drops 6-7 times a day for 7 days (within 3 days after stopping the purulent department). Treatment lasts no more than 14 days.
In otorhinolaryngology - to prevent dizziness before instilling a drop, it is recommended to warm up, keeping the bottle in hands for 1 to 2 minutes. Uniflox is instilled in the ear canal of a patient lying on its side. In this position, the patient should remain for 5 minutes after instillation. 10 drops 2 times a day for 10 days. With perforation of the tympanic membrane and chronic purulent otitis 10 drops 2 times a day for 14 days.

Side effects of Uniflox

Immediately after instillation in the konyoptical bag - a temporary feeling of burning and inflammation of the conjunctiva, photophobia. After instillation in the ear, itching may occur in the ear and a bitter taste in the mouth. In rare cases, eczema, dizziness, tinnitus, pain in the ears, or a feeling of dryness in the mouth are possible.

special instructions

It is necessary to wear sunglasses (because of the possible development of photophobia) and avoid prolonged exposure to bright light. Immediately after installation, there may be an unclear vision, which can lead to difficulties in driving or when working with machinery. It is recommended to start work 15 minutes after installation. Do not wear soft contact lenses during instillation of eye drops. Solid contact lenses are removed prior to instillation of Uniflox and set again 20 minutes after.
