pharmachologic effect

Flucostat is a strong antifungal pharmaceutical preparation, which belongs to the class of triazole compounds by chemical structure. Active for the following families of microorganisms:
    Candida spp;
    Cryptococcus neoformans;
    Microsporum spp;
    Trichpphuton spp;
    Blastomyces dermatidis;
    Coccidioides immits;
    Histoplasma capsulatum.
The mechanism of the therapeutic action of the drug consists in the ability of the biologically active component to selectively inhibit the synthesis of sterols in sensitive mushroom cells, as a result of which the cell wall of harmful or conditionally pathogenic microorganisms becomes untenable, since the sterol is one of its main constituents.

Pharmacodynamics and pharmacokinetics

After oral administration of tablets or capsules, the active ingredients are well absorbed in the gastrointestinal tract. Already in 0,5-1,5 hours on an empty stomach the maximum plasma concentration is reached. The constituent elements of the drug penetrate well into all body fluids. There are certain properties for cumulation - six months after the end of conservative therapy Fluconazole can be detected in the nails. About 80% of the metabolites of the pharmaceutical preparation is eliminated by the kidneys.
With intravenous administration of the parenteral solution of Flucostat, the active ingredients are evenly distributed over the biological fluids (the concentration in pulmonary sputum and saliva in the oral cavity corresponds to the amount of Fluconazole in the blood plasma). After several injections of 1 dose per day, the level of equilibrium concentration is reached by 4-5 days of conservative treatment, and with the initial application of a double amount of the drug - by 2 days.
In the bloodstream, about 11-12% of the total amount of Fluconazole binds to plasma proteins because of which the elimination half-life corresponds to 30 hours. The pharmaceutical is withdrawn in the vast majority (about 80%) with urine. The clearance of the acting component is directly proportional to the creatinine clearance.

Indications for use

    cryptococcosis (including cryptococcal meningitis);
    pityriasis lichen;
    generalized or disseminated candidiasis, mainly affecting the skin and mucous membranes (for example, the oral cavity and esophagus);
    Deep endemic mycoses (sporotrichosis, histoplasmosis, coccidioidomycosis);
    urogenital candidiasis in men (candida balanitis) and women (vaginal candidiasis or thrush);
    prevention of fungal infections in patients with acquired immunodeficiency syndrome;
    mycosis of different etiology;
    lesions by pathogenic fungi during cytostatic, chemo- or radiation therapy;
    onychomycosis.

Contraindications

Strict contraindications include the following conditions:
    increased individual sensitivity to the active ingredient or excipients;
    syndrome of glucose-galactose malabsorption;

    children under 3 years;
    galactosemia;
    combined use of Flucostat with drugs that extend the QT interval on an electrocardiogram (in particular astemizole or terfenadine).
It should also outline a list of non-absolute contraindications, when the medicine must be used with caution (recommended to undergo conservative therapy under the supervision of qualified medical personnel):

Flucostat, instructions for use (Method and dosage)

Tablets Flucostat, instructions for use

Capsules, coated with a coating and tablets are used enterally, that is, inside. Swallowing them should be wholly, without violating integrity, it may affect the therapeutic effectiveness of treatment. How to take - before or after a meal - does not matter, as the absorption of the active components of Flucostat does not depend on filling the lumen of the digestive tube. Duration of treatment is selected individually, as a rule, conservative therapy is conducted before the complete negation of the results of microbiological studies of the pathological focus.
The dosage of the pharmaceutical preparation and the treatment regimen depends on the clinical diagnosis:
    atrophic oral candidiasis and similar infections of mucous membranes - 50-100 mg / day for 14-30 days;
    cryptococcal infections, disseminated candidiasis and fungal infection in the blood - the first day of 400 mg, and then 200-400 mg once a day for a long period;
    vaginal candidiasis and balanitis - 150 mg once, and then for the prevention of recurrence of 150 mg once a month for 4-12 months;
    mycosis skin - 150 mg once a week or 50 mg once a day for 2-6 weeks, depending on the sensitivity of the pathogen to therapy;
    pityriasis lichen - 50 mg once a day 2-4 weeks;
    Deep endemic mycoses - 200-400 mg per day (duration depends on the pathogenic fungus that caused the disease);
    onychomycosis - 150 mg once a week until the unaffected nail plate is completely renewed (nails grow on the hands for 3-6 months, and on the legs - for 6-12 months).
To increase the effectiveness of conservative treatment, antibiotics are often added to the regimen of therapy. Salutab-beta-lactam penicillin, which is used to prevent the development of generalized infectious diseases with local or general immunodeficiency with toxins of pathogenic fungal colonies, was particularly widely used in this way. How to drink antibiotics, should be consulted by the treating doctor, because their incorrect application can lead to such adverse effects as dysbacteriosis or the development of resistance of microflora to the penicillin group of drugs.

Antifungal medicine for children

The tablet form of Flucostat can also be used in pediatric practice, as fungal lesions in children develop and occur even more often than in adults. Dosage is selected individually for each child, based on its anthropometric indicators (in particular weight) and clinical diagnosis, which should be confirmed by microscopic examination. There are the following treatment regimens for pediatricians:
    Candidiasis of the mucous membranes - 6 mg per 1 kg of the patient's weight in 1 day, and then 3 mg per kg until the results of microbiological studies are negated;
    cryptococcosis and systemic candidiasis - 6-12 mg / kg, depending on the severity of the disease;
    for preventive purposes against the background of reduced immune abilities of the body - 3-12 mg per 1 kg of weight per day (the exact amount of the pharmaceutical should be calculated based on the level of leukopenia in the blood test).

How to drink a medicine from thrush

How to take Flucostat from a thrush, each patient can decide on their own or find out for advice from a qualified specialist, since there are different treatment regimens for the fungal lesion of the urogenital area in women. The number and frequency of application depends on the manifestations of the pathological process, the form of the disease and the concomitant complications:
    Uncomplicated form of candidiasis, which first appeared with mild or moderate symptoms - 1 capsule (150 mg Flucostat) once.
    Complicated form of thrush with severe symptoms or against the background of concomitant chronic diseases - 150 mg of the drug on the first and fourth days of conservative therapy.
    The recurrent form of candidiasis in women, which manifests itself at least 4 times during the year - 150 mg in three divided doses, on days 1, 4 and 7 of the sanation. It is also necessary to treat a sexual partner - 150 mg once. This form of fungal pathology requires maintenance therapy to prevent repeated episodes of the disease. For this, 150 mg tablets are used once a week for 6 months.

How much does a pharmaceutical product help

Whether the medicine for thrush helps and how long to wait for the therapeutic effect, you can find out in two weeks with a severe form of the disease or a week later, if the nosological unit manifests itself with mild symptoms without adverse consequences, after all, as usually, the course of conservative treatment lasts, after which the following symptoms disappear without a trace:
    annoying itching and burning in the external genitalia and vagina;
    copious cheesy discharge;
    pain during intercourse or urination.

Suppositories Flucostat

It should be noted that the instructions for the use of Flucostat with thrush may also include Suppositories as a local means of combating harmful fungi, which from the point of view of the medical community is much more favorable for a number of reasons:
    The use of vaginal suppositories is not accompanied by unpleasant sensations or inconvenience;
    a course of conservative therapy can be started immediately from the time of the detection of the characteristic symptomatology of this nosological unit, even without waiting for the end of the menstrual cycle;
    the side effects of pharmaceutical treatment are less frequent;
    The therapeutic efficacy of suppositories does not depend on the intake of food, the time of day, and in no way affects the habitual order of things.
To make sure how to take Flucostat with thrush in the form of Suppositories, the exact dosage of this pharmaceutical form of the drug, the length of the course of therapy, it is worth contacting a women's consultation or gynecology department, however, as a rule, the treatment scheme does not differ from that with the enteral form of antifungal medicinal facilities.

Instruction for Flucostat for men

Thrush is a disease that affects mainly the female half of the population, but the widespread view that the candidiasis of genital organs is their exclusive destiny. is erroneous. Of course, yeast-like fungi of the genus Candida do not take root well in the urethra of a strong part of our planet, as they are regularly washed with urine, but with local weakening of immune mechanisms, favorable conditions for the development of urogenital candidiasis are created, and the question is more often asked whether it is possible for men to take Flucostat for the elimination of thrush.
The pharmaceutical preparation of antifungal action is absorbed into the main bloodstream and is evenly distributed in the biological fluids and media of the male organism, just like in women. But biologically active components have no influence on the hormonal background and can not change it in any way, so whether it is possible to drink Flucostat for men to get rid of unpleasant pathology - of course, yes. Such therapeutic measures will be regarded as etiologic therapy aimed at eradication of thrush pathogens.

Overdose

Symptoms that occur when an overdose of a drug:
    hallucinations;
    the maximum manifestation of side effects (see list above);
    paranoid behavior.
Specific pharmaceutical antidote for overdosage overdose Flucostat not. It is necessary to wash the stomach and symptomatic therapy of individual manifestations. Also, forced diuresis is shown, since the main way to excrete metabolites of the active ingredient is with urine. Hemodialysis behaves well, as during three hours of manipulation the plasma concentration of Fluconazole is reduced by half.

Terms of sale

You don't need a prescription to buy Flucostat.

Storage conditions

The drug should be stored in a place inaccessible to children of younger age category at a temperature of 15 to 25 degrees Celsius.
Shelf life - 2 years

special instructions

Flucostat has the property of slightly lowering local immunity, acting in a specific way on the microflora of the urogenital area. Due to this side effect, additional gates are opened for invasion of non-infectious infectious agents, and accordingly conditions for the development of unpleasant diseases of the genitourinary system are created. In order to eliminate the possible adverse effects of conservative therapy, antibiotics can be used.
Qualified specialists agree that use should be made not of the ordinary pharmaceutical product, so as not to develop resistance to the main chemical constituents of medicines that affect the harmful microflora. In this vein, Solutab 30, a reserve antibiotic, is often used, from which the risk of the above complications in the treatment of fungal pathology is reduced to naught.

Diflucan and Flucostat: the difference between antifungal agents

    Diflucan is an imported drug that is produced in such advanced countries as the United States of America and France, unlike the domestic Flucostat;
    Flucostat is an original medicinal product that appeared on the pharmaceutical market at the end of the last century;
    Flucostat contains some chemical components that are not found in Diflucan.
Proceeding from the differences of these pharmaceutical preparations, it is difficult to answer unambiguously what is better - Flucostat or Diflucan - is difficult. The credit of trust, of course, is more developed for imported means, the more production in such large countries allows to be assured of high quality of medicinal products. On the other hand, the price of Flucostat is 10, and sometimes even more, less than the cost of Diflucan, which is also highly valued for our mentality, so the choice: what to use - Flucostat or Diflucan, should be done on your own.

Children

In pediatric practice, an antifungal drug can be used after 3 years.

Flucostat and alcohol

The impact of any pharmaceutical product against the background of alcohol consumption leads, as a rule, to the development of adverse effects of conservative therapy. Flucostat, in turn, is not just an ordinary medication, but its active ingredients have antibiotic properties, so combining alcohol with a course of conservative sanitation with an antifungal agent is strictly prohibited in order to avoid the development of the following pathological conditions:
    toxic and necrotic liver damage;
    inadequate functioning of the central nervous system with the development of hypersensitivity of various structures to afferent and efferent impulses;
    increased load on the heart muscle;
    a high risk of developing hypertension, up to a rapid hypertensive crisis;
    a significant reduction in the therapeutic efficacy of the drug.

Flucostat in pregnancy (and lactation)

During the use of the drug, active ingredients are absorbed into the main bloodstream and spread throughout the body of the woman, evenly deposited in biological fluids. That is why the use of the antifungal drug Flucostat in pregnancy is allowed only for life reasons (for example, in case of severe, generalized infections that threaten the life of the future mother and fetus).
If there was a need for a course of conservative therapy in breastfeeding, then we should separate the baby from breast and mother's milk, because even in such a specific secret traces of biologically active substances that enter the enteral and parternal forms of Flucostat are found.

Reviews of Flucostat

Reviews of Flucostat on the Internet are full of positive emotions and grateful words, because the medicine in a short time allows you to eliminate very unpleasant pathological conditions, coupled not only with adverse consequences in the physical sense, but also special psycho-emotional factors. Reviews of women vied with one another that the diseases of the urogenital area are usually associated with stress, and this entails a worsening of the work of all organs and systems in the body. Flucostat, in turn, not only eliminates the main cause of an unpleasant disease, but also allows you to "breathe in full", starting a new day.
Therefore, reviews of Flucostat with thrush recommend the use of a pharmaceutical drug everywhere, even if you suspect a nosological unit caused by fungal infestation in the genitourinary system. Patients who have undergone a course of conservative therapy and that the drug allows for effective eradication of the pathogen, even in the complicated form of thrush and in a recurrent course, that is feasible far from every drug of antifungal activity, are noted.
Flucostat for men is no less useful drug than for women, as, contrary to popular belief, the yeast pathogen yeast-like fungus Candida albicans is able to affect the genitourinary system of the stronger sex. In this case, the therapeutic effect of the pharmaceutical preparation can eliminate unpleasant manifestations within a short period of sanitation. Also capsules coated with a coating, or solution for parenteral administration Flucostat is used to prevent asymptomatic carriage of fungi in men, because during sexual intercourse, infection occurs in women, in the vagina of which the optimal environment for the development of the pathological focus is maintained constantly.
