Form of preparation, its composition and packaging

Corvalol is available in the form of white tablets with minor impregnations. The shape of the tablets is round, flat, somewhat oblique to the edge.
1 Corvalol tablet contains 850 μg of peppermint oil, 7.5 mg of phenobarbital and 8.2 mg of ethyl ester of α-bromoisovaleric acid. Also included in the composition are additional substances: starch, lactose, MCC, magnesium stearate, beta-cyclodextrin.
Tablets are enclosed in a blister for 10 pieces. Blisters of 2 or 10 pieces are enclosed in cardboard packs with the corresponding marking.

Mechanism of action

Corvalol tablets is a combined drug and its effect is determined by its constituent components. The drug has a calming effect, relieve spasms. Promotes natural falling asleep.
Ethyl bromizovalerianate has a calming effect and relieves spasms, thanks to the reflex action on the receptors located on the mucous membrane of the mouth and pharynx. The substance reduces the activity of the centers in the cerebral cortex, affects the neurons, strengthening the processes of inhibition.
Phenobarbital potentiates the sedative effect of other components and reduces excitability in the central nervous system, facilitating the transition to sleep.
Mint oil has a vasodilating effect, relieves spasm, has a choleretic effect and is an antiseptic. The mechanism of exposure is related to the ability of the oil to dilate the vessels, affecting the receptors in the oral mucosa. Thus, there is a dilatation of the heart and brain vessels in the main. Mint oil enhances peristalsis of the gastrointestinal tract and helps reduce the phenomenon of flatulence.

The drug should be taken if the patient has:

Corvalol tablets should not be taken if the patient is diagnosed with:

How to use

The dose of the drug is set individually for each patient. It is recommended to take the Corvalol tablet before eating, drink plenty of water. The dose is usually 1 tablet 2 times a day. When heart palpitations occur, 3 tablets per day should be taken. Maximum of 24 hours can be taken up to 6 tablets.
The duration of the use of tablets is determined individually.

Symptoms of an overdose of Corvalol pills

The intake of an overestimated dose is accompanied by the following symptoms: severe sedation, central nervous system depression, hypotension, weakness, dizziness, bromine intoxication - depressive state, inflammation of the conjunctiva and nasal mucosa, disorientation in space.
Therapy: drug withdrawal, gastric lavage, sorbent intake, elimination of symptoms. With a strong suppression of the central nervous system - an analeptic (caffeine sodium benzoate, niketamid).

Interaction Corvalol tablets with other medicines

Drugs that contribute to CNS depression potentiate the effects of Corvalol.
Phenobarbital, which is part of Corvalol, is an inducer of the system of microsomal enzymes of the liver, which can affect the metabolic processes of those drugs that pass through the liver.
Valproic acid enhances the pharmacological effects of Corvalol.

Admission of Corvalol Tablets during Pregnancy and Lactation

The drug is contraindicated in the bearing of pregnancy and lactation.

Side effects
