Form of issue

Stugeron is produced in the form of tablets of 25 pieces in blister No. 2 in a cardboard pack (50 tablets).

pharmachologic effect

Promotes improvement of cerebral circulation.

Pharmacodynamics and pharmacokinetics

Stugeron refers to remedies from a group of selective slow calcium channel blockers that have effects aimed at reducing the penetration of calcium ions into cells, reducing their accumulation in the cytolemma depot, as well as weakening the tone of the smooth muscle tissue of arterioles and increasing the vasodilating efficiency of carbon dioxide .
Cinnarizin directly affects the vascular smooth muscle, reduces its response to biologically active substances (angiotensin, adrenaline, dopamine, norepinephrine, vasopressin). It is characterized by vasodilating action (in particular, it concerns the vessels of the brain), and does not significantly affect blood pressure. Has moderate antihistamine effectiveness, reduces the excitability of the vestibular system and the activity of the sympathetic nervous system. Increases the viscosity of the blood, increases the elasticity of erythrocyte membranes and the ability of erythrocytes to deform. Improves the stability of muscle tissue to the state of hypoxia.
Resorption of the orally taken cinnarizine occurs in the stomach and intestines. Plasma Cmax is observed after a lapse of 1-3 hours. The binding with plasma proteins is at the level of 91%. Complete metabolic transformations are carried out in the liver by the glucuronation process. The metabolic products of cinnarizine are excreted by 1/3 of the kidneys and 2/3 of the intestines. T1 / 2 is 4 hours.

Indications for the use of Stugeron

Indications for the use of Stugeron include:
    negative symptoms of cerebrovascular origin (tinnitus, dizziness, irritability, headaches of vascular origin);
    prevention of motion sickness syndrome (kinetosis), including air, road, and sea sickness;
    vestibular disorders (tinnitus, Meniere's disease, dizziness, nausea / vomiting, nystagmus of labyrinthine origin);

    disorders of peripheral circulation (thrombophlebitis, diabetic angiopathy, Raynaud's disease, trophic disorders, intermittent claudication).

Stugeron's use is contraindicated in breastfeeding and pregnant women, as well as patients with personal hypersensitivity to its active ingredient (cinnarizine) or additional components.
Do not recommend the use of the drug for the treatment of children under 5 years of age.
Treatment with cinnarizine requires caution in patients with Parkinson's disease.

Instructions for the use of Stugeron (Method and dosage)

Tablets Stugeron, the instruction manual recommends to oral intake after eating.
Patients starting from the age of 12 are recommended the following dosage regimens.
In the case of therapy, conditions associated with circulatory disorders of the brain are prescribed thrice daily 25-50 mg (1-2 tablets) of the drug.
In the treatment of vestibular disorders, a three-day daily intake of 25 mg (1 tablet) is indicated.
Peripheral circulatory disorders require treatment with the administration of 50-75 mg (2-3 tablets) three times in 24 hours.
To prevent kinetosis, 25 mg (1 tablet) is prescribed for half an hour before the proposed journey (if necessary, take a similar dose after 6 hours).
Maximum of 24 hours can take 225 mg (9 tablets) Stugeron.
Patients aged 5-12 years are recommended to appoint a half (1/2) dose from the dosage taken by adults.
With a personal hypersensitivity patient should be treated with a half (1/2) dose with its gradual increase to the optimal.
The therapeutic course of Stugeron's reception, as a rule, takes from several weeks to several months.

Overdose

The substance, which is an antidote to cinnarizine, does not exist at the moment. When taking a dose of the drug, significantly exceeding the maximum allowable (225 mg per day), the symptomatic treatment, including cleaning of the gastrointestinal tract and sorbent intake, is indicated.

Interaction

In the treatment with cinnarizine, the effect of ethanol-containing, sedative, antihypertensive, nootropic and vasodilating drugs is enhanced.
Parallel use of cinnarizine with therapeutic agents used to treat arterial hypotension leads to a decrease in their effectiveness.

Storage conditions

Tablets should be stored at temperature values of 15-30 ° C.
Shelf life - 5 years.

special instructions

At the beginning of Stugeron's therapy, the patient is recommended to refrain from any activities potentially dangerous for his life, including driving.
The antihistamine activity of cinnarizine can cause a false positive result of anti-doping testing, and lead to a leveling of positive reactions in performing diagnostic skin tests, which requires the abolition of Stugeron four days before the proposed study.
With prolonged use of cinnarizine, it is recommended to conduct periodic control examinations of the liver / kidney function, as well as monitor the pattern of peripheral blood.
Elderly patients who take cinnarizine for a long time are susceptible to developing extrapyramidal disorders (hypokinesia, tremor of the extremities, strengthening of the muscle tone), and therefore, the detection of such negative symptoms requires the abolition of ongoing treatment.
Patients with Parkinson's disease can be prescribed Stugeron only in cases of a significant excess of the perceived benefit of therapy compared to the risk of worsening their morbid condition.

Stugeron or Cinnarizin - which is better?

In the case of a comparison of Cinnarizine of domestic production (Veropharm, Tathimpharmpreparaty, Balkanfarm, Biosintez, Nizpharm, etc.) and Stegeron (Gedeon Richter), which includes cinnarizine as an active ingredient, we can only talk about the degree of purification of these medicines. It is not regrettable, but for today in this aspect, domestic drugs are often inferior to their foreign counterparts, which is reflected in their reduced effectiveness and increased risk of side effects. In other respects, all medicinal products with this active ingredient, apart from some differences in the composition of additional substances, are identical and can, if necessary, replace each other.

Children

Due to the lack of sufficient experience in the use of Stugeron before the age of 5, he is not recommended for treatment in this age group. Children 5-12 years of age indicated the appointment of a half (1/2) dose from the dosage taken by adults.

With alcohol

At the whole stage of treatment with the use of cinnarizine, it is better to stop using alcoholic beverages, because of the increase in their negative effect.

In pregnancy and lactation

Appointment Stugeron feeding and pregnant women is contraindicated.
