Composition

    1 tablet contains
    Active substances
    Paracetamol 650 mg.
    Chlorpheniramine maleate 4 mg.
    Phenylephrine hydrochloride 10 mg.
    Auxiliary substances: silicon dioxide colloid - 0.4 mg, lacquer based on dye quinoline yellow - 0.85 mg, lactose 3.1 mg, magnesium stearate 3.5 mg, giprolose 17 mg, croscarmellose sodium 57 mg, corn starch 124 mg.

pharmachologic effect

Combined drug, the effect of which is due to its constituent components. It has antipyretic, analgesic, vasoconstrictive action, eliminates the symptoms of "colds". Narrows the vessels and eliminates the swelling of the mucous membrane of the nasal cavity and nasopharynx.
Paracetamol has antipyretic effect, blocking COX mainly in the central nervous system, affecting the centers of pain and thermoregulation. Almost no anti-inflammatory effect. Paracetamol does not affect the synthesis of prostaglandins in peripheral tissues, thus not adversely affecting water-salt metabolism (sodium and water retention) and gastrointestinal mucosa.
Phenylephrine - alpha-adrenomimetic, causes vasoconstriction, eliminates edema and flushing of the mucous membrane of the nasal cavity, nasopharynx and paranasal sinuses, reduces exudative manifestations (runny nose).
Chlorphenamine - a blocker of histamine H1 receptors, suppresses the symptoms of allergic rhinitis: sneezing, runny nose, itching of the eyes, nose, irritation in the pharynx and larynx.

Dosing and Administration

Inside, 1 tablet every 6 hours.
Swallow whole tablet without chewing, washing with water.

Drug Interactions

The risk of hepatotoxic effects of paracetamol increases with the simultaneous administration of barbiturates, diphenin, carbamazepine, rifampicin, zidovudine and other inducers of microsomal liver enzymes.
TheraFlu Extratab enhances the effects of MAO inhibitors, sedatives, ethanol. It is recommended to refrain from taking the drug when taking MAO inhibitors.
Ethanol enhances the sedative effect of antihistamines.
With simultaneous use with antidepressants, phenothiazine derivatives, antiparkinsonian and antipsychotic drugs, the risk of urinary retention, dry mouth, constipation increases.
With simultaneous application with GCS, the risk of developing glaucoma increases.
Paracetamol reduces the effectiveness of uricosuric medicines.
Chlorphenamine simultaneously with MAO inhibitors, furazolidone can lead to hypertensive crisis, excitation, hyperlirexia.
Tricyclic antidepressants enhance the adrenomimetic effect of phenylephrine.
The simultaneous administration of halothane increases the risk of ventricular arrhythmia.
TheraFlu Extratab reduces the hypotensive effect of guanethidine, which, in turn, enhances the alpha-adrenostimulating activity of phenylephrine.

Overdose with TheraFlu Extratab

Symptoms (due mainly to the presence of paracetamol): nausea, vomiting, pain in the epigastric region, hepatotoxic and nephrotoxic effects, in severe cases liver failure, encephalopathy and coma may develop.
Treatment: gastric lavage, activated charcoal in the first 6 hours - administration of donors of SH-groups and precursors of glutathione-methionine synthesis 8-9 hours after overdose and acetylcysteine ​​after 12 hours.
