The drug Xefocam belongs to the group of NSAIDs and is widely used in different directions of medicine to relieve pain, inflammation, hyperemia and hyperthermia.

Form of release and composition of the medicinal product

Xephocam is available in the form of lyophysiata for the preparation of a solution for further injection. The medicine is packed in glass dark bottles complete with a solvent in plastic pallets for 1, 5 and 10 bottles in a cardboard box with the attached instruction.
The contents of the vial is a dense mass with a yellowish hue, the main active ingredient of which is Lornoxicam, in one vial 8 mg of the active ingredient. A 2 ml ampoule with water for injection is applied to the preparation, which is used as a solvent.

Contraindications

Method of application and daily dosage of the drug

The drug Xefocam is intended only for injection intramuscularly or in a vein. After the operations, with a severe pain syndrome in the lumbar region, the drug is administered between the vertebrae in the lumbar region.
The initial daily dose of the drug is 1 bottle, previously diluted with water for injection. The injection is done once a day. The maximum daily dose of the drug should not exceed 16 mg, that is 2 injections. When intramuscular introduction should keep the needle at a right angle and insert it deep into the muscle. Use in pregnancy and lactation

    lack of appetite;
    diarrhea;
    enlargement of the liver and suppression of its function;
    risk of developing gastrointestinal bleeding.
Less common are other side effects: thrombocytopenia, skin rash, dizziness, changes in blood pressure, tremor of limbs, bronchospasm. At the injection site, local side reactions may develop - redness, swelling, tenderness of the puncture site
In very rare cases, it is possible to develop angioedema and signs of anaphylaxis.

Overdose

If the dose prescribed by the doctor is met, signs of a lyophysiate overdose are rarely seen. Most often, they develop with drug abuse and prolonged use of the drug. Clinically, this manifests itself in the form of an increase in the above-described side effects, a tendency to bleed, an increase in the liver, and a suppression of its function.
When developing the first signs of an overdose or accidentally administering a large dose, the patient's medicine is sent under the supervision of a doctor and, if necessary, symptomatically treated.

Interaction with other medicinal products

With the simultaneous administration of Xefocam with cimetidine, the concentration of the main active component of lyophysiate in blood plasma increases, which increases the risk of developing the above-listed side effects.
It is not recommended to combine the drug with anticoagulants or antiaggregants, as this can lead to severe hemorrhagic complications.
With the simultaneous use of the drug with heparin during epidural anesthesia, the patient is at increased risk of developing a massive hematoma at the site of the injection.
Xefocam reduces the therapeutic effect of beta-adrenoblockers and diuretics, and also reduces renal clearance of Digoxin.
When the drug is combined with antibiotics from the quinolone group, the patient develops a risk of developing convulsive seizures. With the simultaneous use of glucocorticosteroids against the background of Xefocam treatment, the risk of bleeding increases.

Patients with peptic ulcer or erosive gastritis in the history of treatment with Xefocam should be carried out with extreme caution. If there is a suspected bleeding, the therapy is immediately stopped.
Under the influence of the drug, platelet aggregation is inhibited, which can lead to an increase in the time of blood coagulation. Patients who are to undergo surgery should be sure to warn the doctor about the therapy, and the doctor in turn must strictly monitor the patient's condition during the operation, keeping medicines stopping the bleeding (aminocaproic acid, for example).
