Pharmacodynamics and pharmacokinetics

Pharmacodynamics

Biocomponent drug intended for external use. Combines the antipruritic and anti-inflammatory effect of hydrocortisone with the bacteriostatic effect of fusidic acid, based on the violation of protein biosynthesis in the cell of the pathogen.
The most sensitive to the preparation Fucidin Hram-positive microorganisms and Gram-negative cocci: Streptococcus pyogenes, Neisseria meningitidis and gonorrhoeae, Staphylococcus aureus and epidemridis, Corynebacterium minutissimum, Nocardia asteroides, and representatives of the genera Pseudomonas and Clostridium.
The drug is not active against E. coli, as well as representatives of the genera Salmonella and Proteus, protozoa and fungi.
Antibacterial effect of fusidic acid is not weakened in the presence of hydrocortisone.

Pharmacokinetics

About 2% of the active substances penetrate the skin of the application field. Systemic absorption is weak.
Fusidic acid is excreted mainly with bile, and only a small small amount is evacuated from the body with urine.
The absorbed hydrocortisone is rapidly transformed and excreted in the urine.

special instructions

Do not apply the cream to the skin of the eyelids, as fusidic acid causes irritation of conjunctival tissues.
The cream includes butyl hydroxy anisole, potassium sorbate and cetyl alcohol. These substances are the cause of the development of local allergic skin phenomena. Butylhydroxyanisole can also cause irritation of mucous membranes and eyes.
When using fusidic acid, development of bacterial resistance is not ruled out. Long-term or regularly repeated use can increase the risk of resistance to antibacterial drugs. The use of permanent combinations of glucocorticosteroids with an antibiotic should not last more than 2 weeks because of the ability of the first to mask signs of infection or hypersensitivity reactions.
It is recommended to avoid prolonged use of local glucocorticosteroids, because this can lead to suppression of the adrenal glands even with a small systemic absorption. After long-term treatment with glucocorticosteroids, atrophic changes can occur on the skin of the face and other parts of the body.
The effect of the drug on the ability to drive has not been revealed.

Children

Fucidin H can be used in children from 2 years.

In pregnancy and lactation

It is allowed to use the drug in these periods under the control and with the appointment of the attending physician.
