Pharmacodynamics and pharmacokinetics

Pharmacodynamics

The active ingredient of this drug, clindamycin, is an antibiotic that is active against strains of bacteria that cause acne. It suppresses the reproduction of Propionibacterium acnes, found in follicles and sebaceous glands. Clindamycin suppresses the synthesis of proteins of the microbial cell, interacting with the 50S subunits of the ribosomes. The anti-acne action is also explained by the reduction of free fatty acids on the skin.

Pharmacokinetics

Zerkalin accumulates and is long-term detected in comedones, where it shows its antibacterial activity. The minimum inhibitory concentration for Propionibacterium acnes is 0.4 μg / ml. And the average concentration of antibiotic in comedones after their treatment is much higher than this figure. At external application system absorption is insignificant, therefore extremely low concentration of active substance is defined in blood and urine.

Reviews about Zerkalin

Those who used Zerkalin from acne, the reviews leave positive. When treated after a few days, the number of elements is reduced by 50%, redness and inflammation disappear. External therapy usually does not cause skin hypersensitivity and systemic side effects do not occur. All note that this drug is much more effective than the funds based on Tetracycline, for example, tetracycline ointment. The drug is called the "savior of the skin," they say that they "noticed a real effect" and that "Zerkalin coped with a problem that 5 years could not solve."
There are reviews about Zerkalin in the severe course of acne. It is noted that in this case, treatment only with local antibiotic use is not very effective and irrational - the drug has no effect on all links in the pathogenesis of acne. It is necessary to designate systemically acting antibiotics, retinoids and hormones. Also, with long-term local treatment, there is a risk of developing resistance of pathogenic flora.
