Chondroitin is a high-molecular mucopolysaccharide, which is found in significant quantities in various types of connective tissue, especially cartilage (serves as an additional substrate for the formation of cartilage matrix). Affects calcium and phosphorus metabolism in cartilage, slows bone resorption and reduces calcium loss, accelerates bone tissue repair processes. It inhibits the process of degeneration of cartilage tissue, stimulates the regeneration of articular cartilage, contributes to the restoration of the articular bag, the cartilage surfaces of the joints. It maintains the viscosity of synovial fluid, prevents the compression of connective tissue and plays the role of a kind of lubrication of the articular surfaces; slows the progression of osteoarthritis, relieves its symptoms, reduces the need for NSAIDs. Pharmacokinetics of Drastop

After i / m administration of sodium chondroitin sulfate is easily absorbed. Within 30 minutes after the injection, it is detected in the blood in significant concentrations. The maximum concentration of sodium chondroitin sulfate in plasma is reached after 1 hour, then gradually decreases over 2 days.
Sodium chondroitin sulfate accumulates mainly in the cartilage tissue forming the joints. The synovium is not an obstacle to the penetration of the drug into the joint cavity. 15 minutes after the intramuscular injection of sodium, chondroitin sulfate is found in the synovial fluid, then penetrates into the articular cartilage, where its maximum concentration is reached after 48 hours.

Indications for use

The drug Drastop is used in the treatment of degenerative diseases of the joints and spine, such as: osteoarthritis of the peripheral joints; intervertebral osteoarthritis and osteochondrosis.

Mode of application

The drug Drastop prescribed in / m to 1 ml (100 mg of sodium chondroitin sulfate) every other day. With good tolerance, the dose is increased to 2 ml (200 mg of sodium chondroitin sulfate), starting with the fourth injection. The course of treatment is 25-30 injections. If necessary, it is possible to conduct repeated courses of treatment after 6 months.

Side effects
