Pharmacodynamics and pharmacokinetics

The active component of the drug - a derivative of quinuclidil carbinol, reduces the action of histamine (which is produced as an immune response to an allergen) on the body. In its structure there is a cyclic nucleus of quinuclidine, the substance has a considerable distance between nitrogen and the diphenylcarbinol group.
Hyphenadine blocks H1-receptors on a competitive basis, while activating the enzyme diaminoksidazu. This enzyme can split about 30% of histamine. Thus, the drug is more effective than other means of allergy.
Through the blood-brain barrier the preparation penetrates little, practically does not affect the deamination of serotonin in the brain, monoamine oxidase.
It removes spasm of smooth muscles in the intestines, itching and discomfort with allergies. The drug reduces hypotensive activity, preserves the normal permeability of capillaries, while clearly not affecting the pressure and heart muscle. In contrast to the widely known and common dimedrol and pipolfen, the drug does not inhibit the central nervous system, in the brain tissues is present in small amounts. However, if the patient has a specific reaction to the component, a mild sedative effect may occur.
With intramuscular injection, the maximum concentration of the active substance is achieved in half an hour. When taking a tablet form - an hour later. It accumulates mainly in the liver, kidneys and lungs. Then undergoes metabolic reactions, their products are excreted in the urine.
