Composition

In 1 milliliter of the drug contains 3 milligrams of norfloxacin. As auxiliary agents are present: water, glacial acetic acid, benzalkonium chloride, sodium chloride and disodium edetate.

Form of issue

Produced in the form of drops of the eye and ear in bottles of dark glass of 5 milliliters. The liquid has a clear, colorless or slightly yellowish color.
Also available in the form of film-coated tablets, having a risk on one side.

pharmachologic effect

Norfloxacin, which is part of the drug, has an antimicrobial effect against gram-negative and Gram-positive aerobic bacteria. These drops are not effective against infectious diseases caused by anaerobic bacteria.
The action consists in inhibiting the enzyme DNA-gyrase of bacteria, which disrupts the replication of DNA and the synthesis of cellular bacterial proteins.

Pharmacodynamics and pharmacokinetics

Due to low systemic absorption, no studies have been conducted in this area.

Indications for use

Eye and ear drops Normax are shown at:
    conjunctivitis;
    infectious eustachyte;
    internal otitis;
    chronic and acute otitis media;
    otitis externa;
    trachoma;
    blepharoconjunctivitis;
    blepharitis;
    corneal ulcer;
    keratoconjunctivitis;
    keratites.
Used to prevent otitis before and after surgery, when removing foreign body of the ear, which is accompanied by tissue damage, as well as before and after ear trauma.
It is used for the prevention of eye infections after removal of a foreign body from the conjunctiva or cornea, before and after surgery and the field of injury by physical or chemical means.

Contraindications

Not applicable for hypersensitivity to fluoroquinolone drugs, pregnancy, breast-feeding, children under 12 years of age.
Caution should be applied to those who manage potentially dangerous mechanisms or drives a car (after instillation of medicine in the eyes should not engage in activities that require increased attention for 30 minutes).

Side effects

In most cases, the medicine is well tolerated. Sometimes there may be allergic reactions in the form of angioedema, itching and rash. If side effects occur, discontinue use and consult a doctor.
When using tablets, one can observe:
    allergic reactions - Quincke's edema, itching and rash on the skin;
    interstitial nephritis;
    anxiety, irritability, sleep disorders, fatigue, dizziness and headache;
    pain in the abdomen, diarrhea, anorexia, heartburn, nausea.

Ear and eye drops Normax, instructions for use (Method and dosage)

Drops are intended for instillation in the ear or eyes. When infectious diseases of the middle or outer ear are prescribed two drops five times a day. In particularly acute situations, you can apply two drops every three hours until the condition improves.
In chronic or acute trachoma, 2 drops are prescribed 5 times per day in each eye. Duration of treatment can be up to two months.
In infectious diseases of the eye, 2 drops are prescribed 5 times a day.
In infectious diseases of the eye of an acute nature, one or two drops can be applied every 15-30 minutes, after which, depending on the dynamics of the improvements, the interval between instillations should be increased.

Overdose

To date, there are no known cases of overdose. If you accidentally take drops inside you may experience nausea, vomiting, headache, a sense of anxiety, dizziness and diarrhea. In this case, it is necessary to conduct symptomatic therapy, drink plenty of water.

Interaction

When using drops simultaneously with other drugs, the interval between use of these drugs should be kept at least 15 minutes.
With the simultaneous administration of tablets with drugs in which sucralfate, zinc, calcium, magnesium and iron are present, as well as with antacids, the absorption of norfloxacin is reduced, since a complex is formed with metal ions.

Storage conditions

Keep the drops in a dark place at a temperature of no higher than 25 degrees.
Shelf life is 2 years. After opening the vial, it should not be stored for more than 1 month.
