Composition

Alpha-adrenomimetic, which has vasoconstrictive and anti-edematous action. Reduces swelling of the conjunctiva, tenderness of the mucous eyes, burning, lacrimation. Pharmacokinetics

Systemic absorption by instillation into the eye is low.

Indications for use

    Injected sclera associated with the effect on the eyes of chemical and physical factors (chlorinated water in the pool, dust, cosmetics, radiation of the computer monitor, bright light);
    moderate eye irritation accompanied by conjunctival hyperemia;
    lacrimation;
    allergic conjunctivitis.

Contraindications

    glaucoma;
    corneal dystrophy;
    bacterial conjunctivitis;

    acute cardiovascular insufficiency;
    hypersensitivity.

Overdose

Overdose is possible with accidental ingestion, especially in young children. It is manifested by dilating the pupil, cyanosis, nausea, convulsions, the appearance of arrhythmias, increased blood pressure, respiratory depression, pulmonary edema, CNS depression with collapse and coma. Treatment: gastric lavage, activated charcoal, oxygen inhalation. Symptomatic treatment consists in the use of anticonvulsants, hypotensive and antipyretic drugs.

Interaction

Simultaneous use with MAO inhibitors (nialamide, phenelzine, iproniazid), antidepressants (tricyclics), guanethidine causes hypertension and tachycardia. Drops are used 10 days after stopping the intake of MAO inhibitors. The use of guanethidine in addition to this provokes mydriasis and a temporary visual impairment. Joint use with this drug of resin, insulin, atropine, general anesthetics, propranolol increases the risk of unwanted cardiovascular reactions.
