Composition

1 g of gel contains 20 mg of clotrimazole (active ingredient).
Auxiliary components are:
    cetyl and benzyl alcohol;
    propylene glycol;
    glycerol;
    wax;
    carbomer 940;
    sodium hydroxide;
    chlorocresol;
    water.

Pharmacological action

Candid gel is a broad-spectrum antifungal agent intended for intravaginal use.
The antimycotic effect of clotrimazole (an imidazole derivative) is associated with the suppression of the synthesis of ergosterol, which is part of the plasma membrane of fungi, which changes its permeability and leads to the subsequent destruction of the cell.
    In small concentrations, the active component of Candid gel slows the growth of fungi, and in large concentrations it completely destroys them.
The drug is effective against dermatophytes, yeast-like fungi, pitya pathogens and erythrasma. In addition, the gel has an antimicrobial effect against staphylococci, streptococci, bacteroids, gardnerella, Trichomonas vaginalis.

Candid gel, indications for use

The drug is used in gynecology for the treatment of:
    genital infections: vulvovaginal candidiasis, trichomoniasis;
    genital superinfection caused by microbes that are sensitive to clotrimazole.

Contraindications

Candid Vaginal Gel is prohibited to use if available:
    hypersensitivity to the components that make up the drug;
    menses;
    pregnancy (1 term);

Gel treatment regimen

Candid gel is allowed to use only intravaginal.
Before introducing the drug, lay on your back, bend your knees, slightly spread them apart and insert a full applicator with medicine (approximately 5 g of gel) into the vagina. The procedure is recommended to perform 1 time per day (before going to bed) for 6 days. Repeated treatment can only be carried out on prescription.

Side effects of Candid gel

During therapy, there may be such negative manifestations as:
    itching;
    burning;
    hyperemia and edema of the mucous membrane of the vagina;
    vaginal discharge;
    migraine;
    abdominal pain;
    frequent urination;
    pain in the vagina during intercourse.

Overdose

Cases of overdose with intravaginal use was not observed, because Candid gel has a low absorbability in the blood plasma.
In case of accidental oral administration the following symptoms are possible:
    dyspnea;
    epigastric pain;
    hives;
    skin rash;
    feeling hot;
    fainting;
    lowering blood pressure;
    drowsiness;
    nausea;
    vomiting.
If any of the symptoms occur, enterosorbents should be taken and a doctor should be visited.

Drug interaction

Clotrimazole reduces the effectiveness of Amphotericin B and other polyene antibacterial drugs. When combined with Natamycin and Nystatin, the therapeutic effect of clotrimazole is reduced.

Features of the use of vaginal gel Candid

In the presence of trichomoniasis, in order to achieve maximum effectiveness of therapy, it is recommended to combine the use of Candida with other drugs that have a resorptive effect (for example, Metronidazole orally).
After the disappearance of the acute symptoms of the disease, it is not recommended to immediately discontinue the use of the drug.
During therapy, it is forbidden to insert tampons into the vagina.
People suffering from liver failure need to monitor the functional state of the filtering organ from time to time.
If symptoms of hypersensitivity are detected, treatment with this drug should be stopped.
    After the administration of the medication, it is recommended to wash your hands well to eliminate the risk of getting the gel on the mucous membrane of the eyes.
If there is no effect for 28 days, it is necessary to consult a doctor to confirm the diagnosis.

During pregnancy and lactation

The gel can be used in 2 or 3 trimester of pregnancy under the supervision of a doctor. In the first trimester of pregnancy, the medicine must be administered without an applicator.
Since there is no information about whether Candid gel penetrates through intravaginal administration into breast milk, it is necessary to stop breastfeeding during treatment with the drug.

During menstruation

For menstruation, it is forbidden to use the gel, since the bleeding helps wash out the medication.

Can I have sex?

During the use of Candid gel is recommended to abandon intimate relationships. Unprotected sexual intercourse can lead to a burning sensation in the penis of the partner. In addition, with parallel use of the gel with products made from latex (condoms), their functional ability is reduced. This is due to the auxiliary components contained in the drug.
To prevent re-infection requires the simultaneous treatment of sexual partners.
