pharmachologic effect

Antifungal broad-spectrum agent for local use, antibacterial, antiprotozoal, trichomonacid.
The antimycotic effect of the active ingredient clotrimazole (imidazole derivative) is associated with impaired synthesis of ergosterol, which is part of the cell membrane of fungi, which changes the permeability of the membrane and causes the subsequent lysis of the cell. In small concentrations, it acts fungistatically, and in large concentrations - it is fungicidal, and not only on proliferating cells. In fungicidal concentrations, it interacts with mitochondrial and peroxidase enzymes, resulting in an increase in the concentration of hydrogen peroxide to a toxic level, which also contributes to the destruction of fungal cells.
It shows fungicidal and fungistatic activity against dermatomycetes Trichophyton rubrum, Trichophyton mentagrophytes, Epidermophyton floccosum, Microsporum canis), yeast-like and mold fungi (Candid spp., Candid albicans; Torulopsis glabrata. It is active against the pathogen of multi-colored lichen - Pityrosporum orbiculare (Malassezia furfur). Effective against gram-positive bacteria - the causative agent of erythrasma Corynebacterium mlnutisslmum, as well as Staphylococcus spp., Streptococcus spp., Gram-negative bacteria - Bacteroides, Gardnerella vaginalis. In high concentrations active against Trichomonas vaginalis.

Pharmacokinetics

Clotrimazole is poorly absorbed through the skin and mucous membranes and practically has no systemic effect. When applied externally, the concentration of clotrimazole in the epidermis is higher than in the dermis and subcutaneous tissue.

Indications for Candid solution

- fungal diseases of the skin, mycosis of skin folds, feet;
- pityriasis versicolor, erythrasma, superficial candidiasis caused by dermatophytes, yeast (including the genus Candid), mold and other fungi and pathogens sensitive to clotrimazole;
- mycoses complicated by secondary pyoderma.

Contraindications

- hypersensitivity to clotrimazole or other components of Candid solution (propylene glycol, polyethylene glycol, isopropyl alcohol);
- I trimester of pregnancy.
With care: lactation period.

Dosage

Outwardly. The solution is applied in a thin layer 2 times a day to pre-cleaned (using neutral pH soap) and dried affected skin.
The duration of treatment depends on the severity of the disease, the localization of pathological changes and the effectiveness of therapy.
Treatment of ringworms is carried out for at least 4 weeks, tinea versicolor - 1-3 weeks.
In case of fungal diseases of the skin of the legs, the therapy is recommended to continue for at least 2 weeks after elimination of the symptoms of the disease.

Side effects

Itching, burning, tingling in the areas of application, the appearance of erythema, blistering, swelling, irritation and flaking of the skin. Allergic reactions (itching, urticaria).

Overdose

The use of the solution in high doses does not cause any reactions and conditions, life-threatening.

Drug Interactions

Amphotericin B, nystatin, natamycin, reduce the effectiveness of clotrimazole with simultaneous use.
When using the solution, negative interactions with other agents have not been established and should not be expected, since The resorption ability of clotrimazole is very low.

special instructions for Candid solution

It is not recommended to apply Candid solution on the skin in the eye area.
If there is evidence of hypersensitivity or irritation, treatment is stopped.
Patients with liver failure should periodically monitor the functional state of the liver.
If there is no effect for 4 weeks, the diagnosis should be confirmed.
For external use only.
Influence on ability to manage vehicles and mechanisms
Candid solution does not affect the ability to drive vehicles and mechanisms.

Pregnancy and lactemia

In clinical and experimental studies, it has not been established that the use of Candid solution during pregnancy or during lactation has a negative effect on the health of a woman or fetus (child). However, the question of the advisability of prescribing Candid solution in the II or III trimester should be decided individually after consulting with a doctor. When prescribing Candid solution during the II or III trimesters of pregnancy, it is necessary to take into account the ratio of the prospective benefit from the appointment of Candid solution to the mother and the possible risk to the fetus. Contraindicated in the first trimester of pregnancy.
Use with caution during lactation. Application of Candid solution directly on the lactating mammary gland is contraindicated.

With abnormal liver function

Patients with liver failure should periodically monitor the functional state of the liver.
