Composition

The 1 ml solution for intravenous and intramuscular administration contains 50 mg of ethylmethyl hydroxypyridine succinate active ingredient and auxiliary substances: sodium disulfite - 1 mg; water for injection - up to 1 ml.

Form of issue

    1 ampoule (2 ml) of 5, 10, 20 and 50 pieces in a carton;
    1 ampoule (5 ml) for 5, 10 and 20 pieces in a carton.

pharmachologic effect

    the drug protects the membranes of brain cells (neurons) from any effects (membrane-protective action);
    improves circulation in the brain and reduces the need for neurons in oxygen (antihypoxic effect);
    has a direct activating effect on mental activity (nootropic action);
    relieves feelings of anxiety, fear and tension;
    increases stress resistance (anxiolytic action);
    suppresses convulsions (anticonvulsant action).

Pharmacodynamics and pharmacokinetics

Active active substance Neurox ethylmethylhydroxypyridine succinate (EMGPS) suppresses the toxic effect of free radicals formed during metabolism in the human body and destroying cells and tissues. It protects the membranes (shells) of brain cells from any effects, improves their structure and function (including the transportation of oxygen and neurotransmitters - substances through which information is transmitted in the brain cells).
Under the influence of Neurox, the concentration in the brain of dopamine, which is called the pleasure hormone, increases. All this leads to an increase in stress resistance and mental abilities, a decrease in anxiety and convulsive readiness. Neurox has an antitoxic effect in acute and chronic alcohol intoxication, with abstinence syndrome (intoxication, developing on the background of separation from alcohol in patients with chronic alcoholism) and with an overdose of agents affecting the central nervous system.
The duration of the action of Neurox with intramuscular injection is up to 4 hours. The maximum concentration in the blood plasma comes in 20 - 40 minutes after administration. The active substance quickly passes from the blood vessels to the organs and tissues and is also rapidly excreted from the body with urine, previously metabolized (decomposed into metabolic products) in the liver.

Indications for use of Neurox

Indications for Neurox use:
    acute disorders of cerebral circulation, including ischemic strokes;
    diseases associated with the violation of metabolic processes in the cells of the brain (encephalopia);
    condition after the craniocerebral trauma;
    mild mental disorders in the background of atherosclerosis;
    anxiety conditions against the background of neuroses and mental illness;
    myocardial infarction (as part of complex treatment).
Indications for use of Neurox include also alcohol intoxication, withdrawal syndrome against a background of chronic alcoholism and acute intoxication with antipsychotic drugs (neuroleptics).

Neurox - contraindications for use

Neurox can not be used in the following diseases and conditions:
    severe diseases accompanied by acute impairment of kidney or liver function (acute renal and hepatic insufficiency);
    pregnancy and breast-feeding;
    increased sensitivity of the organism to the components of the drug;
    children of any age.
With caution Neurox is used for allergic diseases and reactions that the patient had in the past. During treatment, you should be careful when driving a car and doing other jobs that require increased concentration and speed of response.

Neurox - Side Effects

Against the background of the rapid administration of the drug (especially with intravenous jet injection), dryness and metallic taste in the mouth, heat flush, sore throat and feelings of air shortage may appear. Allergic reactions are also possible.
If you apply the drug courses exceeding the recommended duration in the duration, you can not exclude the appearance of nausea, increased gas production in the intestines and intestinal colic, drowsiness or disturbed sleep.

Neurox, instructions for use

Neurox is injected intramuscularly or intravenously (either jet or drip). When drip, the drug is diluted with saline (0.9% sodium chloride). Neurox dosages are most often selected individually by the doctor, taking into account the disease, the patient's condition and the manufacturer's recommendations.
Instructions for use Neurox recommends starting treatment with a daily dose of 50-300 mg. A dose of more than 50 mg is better divided into 2 - 3 injections. Gradually, the dose is increased until a therapeutic effect is obtained. The maximum daily dose is 800 mg. The course of treatment, depending on the patient's condition and dosage, can vary from 5 to 30 days.
Intravenously spray medication is administered very slowly for at least 5 minutes, drip - at a speed of 40-60 drops per minute.

Neurox injections - is overdose possible?

In case of an overdose, there may be insomnia or, on the contrary, drowsiness. If the drug is administered intravenously, a slight increase in blood pressure (BP) is possible within 90 to 120 minutes after administration. After this time, the symptoms of BP come to normal on their own, the state of health is restored within a day.
When insomnia is sometimes prescribed drugs from the tranquilizers (for example, Diazepam) in the minimum dosage.

Interactions of Neurox with other drugs

Neurox potentiates (intensifies) the action of benzodiazepine tranquilizers (eg, Diazepam), antiepileptic (carbamazepine), antiparkinsonian (levodopa) drugs and nitrates (nitroglycerin). Reduces the toxic effect of alcohol.

Reviews about Neurox

Reviews about Neurox are different, about half of them are positive, half is negative. In positive responses, the effect of complex treatment of various neurological disorders, including Neurox, was noted.
Negative responses about Neurox are related to the lack of curative effect after the course of treatment. Obviously, in many ways the effectiveness of this drug is associated with the correctness of its use and the selected dosage.
