Form of release and medicinal composition

The drug Cerucal is available in the form of tablets and a solution for injections. The solution is clear, sterile, has no color and odor, is available in ampoules of transparent glass with a volume of 2 ml. Ampoules are packed in plastic pallets of 5 pieces (2) in a cardboard box, a detailed instruction describing the characteristics of the solution is attached to the preparation.
In 1 ml of the solution contains 5 mg of active ingredient - Metoclopramide hydrochloride, in 1 ampoule 10 mg of active substance. As an auxiliary component is water for injection and sodium chloride.

Indications for use

Solution Cerucal in the form of a solution for injections is intended for intravenous and intramuscular injection. The main indications for prescribing the drug are:
    nausea and vomiting of various origin - associated with the use of poor-quality and stale food, diseases of the stomach, pancreas;
    nausea and vomiting caused by taking certain medications;
    biliary dyskinesia;
    reflux esophagitis;
    postoperative hypotension of the stomach, resulting in a feeling of heaviness, nausea and discomfort;
    paresis of the stomach against a background of severe diabetes mellitus;
    the first few days after gastroduodenal sounding or endoscopy.

Contraindications for Cerucal solution

    individual intolerance to the components of the drug;
    stenosis of the pylorus of the stomach;
    intestinal obstruction or suspected of it;
    prolactin-dependent tumor;

Dosing and Administration

The solution Cerucal is intended for intravenous or intramuscular administration. According to the instructions, patients older than 14 years and adults are prescribed 2 ml of solution 3 times a day. Children from 2 years to 14 years of age, the dose of the drug is calculated individually, depending on the body weight and body characteristics.
The drug can be used to prevent nausea and vomiting during treatment with cytostatics in cancer patients. In this case, the solution is used for short-term and long-term drip infusions. For intravenous infusions of the solution Cerucal, an isotonic sodium chloride solution is used or a 5% solution of glucose.
With the introduction of the solution intramuscularly nothing else to dilute the contents of the ampoule is not necessary.

Use during pregnancy and during breastfeeding

Side effects

If the dosage is exceeded, the patient develops overdose symptoms, which are clinically expressed as follows:
    confusion of consciousness;
    anxiety, drowsiness, convulsions;
    disorientation in space;
    extrapyramidal disorders;
    increase or rapid decrease in blood pressure indicators;
When such clinical symptoms appear, treatment with the drug is immediately stopped. In most cases, all negative reactions and signs of an overdose disappear on their own 1-2 days after the abolition of therapy. Interaction of the drug with other drugs

The solution Cerucal is incompatible with solutions for intravenous infusion, which have an alkaline environment.
At simultaneous appointment with antibiotics, Paracetamol, Levodopa solution, Cerucal enhances the absorption of these drugs, which increases the risk of side effects and toxic damage to the liver.
Solution Cerucal in the form of injections reduces the absorption of Digoxin and Cimetidine while concomitant administration of drugs.
Under the influence of the Cerucal solution, the oppressive effect of ethanol on the central nervous system increases, as well as drugs that inhibit the rate of psychomotor reactions.
Solution Cerucal reduces the therapeutic effect of drugs from the group of H2-histaminoblockers, which should be taken into account when assigning these drugs simultaneously.
With the simultaneous administration of injections of Cerucal with hepatotoxic drugs, the risk of toxic damage to the liver increases.

During treatment with Cerucal solution, patients should refrain from driving a car and managing complex techniques that require increased concentration. This is due to possible dizziness and sluggishness of the patient on the background of therapy.
During treatment with the drug, the patient should refrain from drinking alcohol, as when combining Cerucal with alcohol, the risk of side effects from the liver and central nervous system increases.
