Composition

One capsule of the drug Ursodez includes 250 mg of ursodeoxycholic acid.

Pharmacodynamics

Ursodez is a drug with pronounced properties of the hepatoprotector. Has choleretic effect. Reduces the biosynthesis of cholesterol in the liver, its absorption in the intestine and the content of bile, increases the solubility of cholesterol in the hepatobiliary system, increases the excretion and formation of bile. It reduces the lithogenicity of bile, increases the content of bile acids in it. Improves pancreatic and gastric secretion, stimulates lipase activity. It also has a hypoglycemic effect.
Helps remove cholesterol from gallstones.
Has immunomodulatory effect: reduces the expression of antigens on the wall of hepatocytes, affects the content of T-lymphocytes, the production of interleukin-2, reduces the content of eosinophils.

Pharmacokinetics

Ursodeoxycholic acid is absorbed from the small intestine as a result of passive diffusion and active transport. The greatest concentration in the blood occurs in one hour. Binding to plasma proteins reaches 97-99%. Penetrates through the barrier of the placenta. The therapeutic effect of the drug depends on the content of the active substance in the bile.
It is transformed into the formation of conjugates, which are secreted into bile. 50-70% of the accepted dose is excreted by bile.

Indications for use

    cholic reflux-gastritis;
    the need for dissolution of cholesterol type stones in the gallbladder;
    compensated cirrhosis of the liver of biliary nature (symptomatic therapy).

Contraindications

    Inoperable (deactivated) gallbladder.
    X-ray negative gallstones (with a high concentration of calcium).
    Acute lesions of the gallbladder, biliary ducts and other digestive organs of an inflammatory nature.
    Severe lesions of the kidneys, liver or pancreas.
    Hypersensitivity to the components of the drug.
    Decompensated cirrhosis of the liver.
    Body weight less than 34 kg.
    Pregnancy or lactation.

Side effects

    Reactions from digestion: pain in epigastrium and hypochondria on the right, nausea, diarrhea, calcification of bile calculi, increase in the content of liver transaminases.
    In the treatment of primary biliary cirrhosis, temporary decompensation of the disease can occur, which disappears after the withdrawal of the drug.
    Other reactions: allergic reactions are possible.

Instructions for use Ursodez (Method and dosage)

For the dissolution of cholesterol-type stones, the instruction for the use of Ursodez recommends that the drug be prescribed at a rate of 10 mg per kilogram of weight once a day. Take capsules in the evening, without chewing and washing with water. Duration of treatment is from six months to one year.
To prevent the recurrence of cholelithiasis, it is advisable to take the remedy a few more months after the onset of remission.
For the treatment of bile reflux gastritis, it is recommended to take 1 capsule daily before bedtime, with water. The duration of treatment is usually from 2 weeks to 6 months, and, if necessary, up to 24 months.
For symptomatic therapy of primary biliary cirrhosis, the daily dose is set at a rate of 10-15 mg per kilogram of body weight.

Overdose

No reported cases of overdose. If such a condition does occur, it is advisable to conduct symptomatic therapy.

Interaction

Colestipol, Kolestyramin, and antacid preparations containing aluminum hydroxide or aluminum oxide, impair absorption in the intestine of ursodeoxycholic acid and, as a result, reduce its effectiveness. It is advised to do a two-hour break between the methods of Ursodez and similar preparations.
Ursodeoxycholic acid stimulates the absorption of Ciclosporin from the digestive system.
In some cases, Ursodez lowers the absorption of ciprofloxacin.
Lipid-lowering agents, estrogens, gestagens and neomycin increase the cholesterol content in bile and can weaken the ability of the drug to dissolve bile cholesterol-type calculi.
