Pharmacodynamics and pharmacokinetics

Ursodeoxycholic acid is incorporated into the membrane membrane of hepatocyte cells, thus stabilizing their structure and protecting cells from the influence of bile acid salts. The drug has the ability to reduce the level of dangerous acids - chenodeoxycholic, deoxycholic and others, stimulates the activity of calcium-dependent alpha protease.
The drug reduces the synthesis of cholesterol in the liver and its concentration in the bile, stimulates the production of bile and its release. There is an intensification of punkeretic and gastric secretion.
When taken orally, it has the ability to dissolve cholesterol stones and lower cholesterol levels, in general. The agent increases the number of T-lymphocytes, the formation of IL-2, reduces the number of eosinophils, thereby stimulating cellular immunity.
Absorption of the agent occurs in the small and ileum. The maximum concentration in blood plasma - 5.5 mmol per liter is observed after about an hour. The active substance is almost completely (up to 99%) bound to plasma proteins. The effectiveness of the drug is linearly dependent on the concentration of this acid in the bile and the amount of the drug taken.
Metabolism means undergoes in the liver, then its active metabolites are secreted with bile (about 60%). Only a small part of it is split by bacteria in the large intestine.
