Composition

In 1 g of Proctosedyl ointment contains 10 mg of benzocaine (in the form of ethylaminobenzoate), 10 mg of butambene (in the form of butylaminobenzoate), 5.58 mg of hydrocortisone acetate, 10 mg of scramisetine sulfate, 10 mg of esculoside and 100 IU of sodium heparin. As auxiliary compounds used: cholesterol, liquid and soft white paraffin, polysorbate 80, propylene glycol, macrogol 400, 1540 and 4000.
One rectal capsule contains 5 mg of benzocaine (in the form of ethylaminobenzoate), 5 mg of butambene (in the form of butylaminobenzoate), 2.79 mg of hydrocortisone acetate, 5 mg of framicetin sulfate, and 5 mg of esculoside. As auxiliary compounds used: lanolin, liquid and soft white paraffin. Capsules are made of gelatin, glycerol (glycerol), methyl parahydroxybenzoate (methylparaben), propyl parahydroxybenzoate (propylparaben), titanium dioxide (E171) and purified water.

Form of issue

    Ointment Proctosedyl, intended for topical application, is not pure white with a greenish tinge, is available in aluminum tubes of 10 or 15 g, complete with an applicator (cannula-dispenser).
    Soft gelatin rectal capsules Proctosedyl M of light yellow color, inside - a yellowish-white fatty mass. Suppositories Proctosedyl are sold in dark glass bottles (20 capsules each), sealed in cardboard packs.

pharmachologic effect

Anti-inflammatory, antipruritic, local anesthetic and antibacterial.

Pharmacodynamics and pharmacokinetics

The therapeutic effect of the drug is provided by its components:
    esculoside - a substance related to vitamin P, which reduces the fragility of capillaries;
    the action of hydrocortisone (glucocorticosteroid) is aimed at inhibiting the formation of prostaglandins and other mediators of inflammation;
    local anesthetic and antipruritic action is provided by ethylaminobenzoate and butylaminobenzoate, which can also reduce spasm of the anal sphincter;
    framicetin is active against gram-positive and gram-negative microorganisms.

Information on pharmacokinetics

Hydrocortisone is partially absorbed in the rectum, the elimination half-life is approximately 1.5 hours. Active compounds are almost not absorbed and therefore act locally.

Indications for use

    external and internal hemorrhoids (acute, chronic, as well as for prevention);
    postpartum hemorrhoids;
    proctitis;
    perianal eczema;
    pre- and postoperative therapy for hemorrhoids;
    anal fissures, itching.

Contraindications

Suppositories Proctosedyl from hemorrhoids can not be used in patients with known hypersensitivity to any of the constituents of the drug, as well as:
    at tubercular, viral, fungal lesions of the anorectal zone;
    neoplasms in the rectal passage;
    pregnant and breastfeeding patients, as well as children.
Patients with hypertension or cardiac insufficiency should apply the drug with caution.

Side effects

Suppositories and ointment Proctosedyl can cause such undesirable side reactions as:
    systemic effects characteristic of glucocorticoid therapy;
    allergic reactions and hypersensitivity reactions;
    local reactions in the rectum: dryness, burning, discomfort;
    development of secondary infection.

Suppositories and rectal capsules are recommended to be administered in the morning, in the evening and after each act of defecation.

Ointment Proctosedyl, instructions for use

Ointment in a small amount squeezed on the finger and apply to the areas with itching or pain, apply every day in the morning, in the evening, and after each act of defecation.
To inject the drug deeper, you can use the applicator provided: put it on a tube, insert it into the rectum, gently push the applicator from the lower end, gradually pull it out.
The course of treatment is rather short - not more than 1 week.
