The drug Galavit is a drug with a pronounced immunostimulating effect.

Form of formulation and composition of the preparation

The preparation Galavit is issued in the form of suppositories intended for introduction into the rectum. Candles are packed in 5 or 10 pieces in a carton box.
The main active ingredient of the drug is sodium aminodihydrophthalazinedione. Each suppository contains 100 mg of active ingredient.
In addition to the active ingredient, the composition of the candle contains an auxiliary substance - vitepsol.

Pharmacological properties of the drug

Candles Galavit have a pronounced immunomodulatory and anti-inflammatory effect. When the active ingredient of the drug is absorbed through the intestinal wall into the systemic circulation, stimulation of the production of interferons in the patient's body occurs.
Active components of the suppository increase the activity of macrophages, thereby increasing the body's resistance to infectious diseases.

Indications for use

According to the instructions, rectal suppositories of galavite are prescribed for adults and adolescents for the treatment and prevention of the following conditions:
    Viral hepatitis;
    Diseases of the intestines of an infectious origin, accompanied by a pronounced impairment of its function (diarrhea, colitis, severe spasms);
    Peptic ulcer of the stomach and duodenum as part of complex therapy;
    Skin and mucous membrane diseases caused by human papillomavirus;
    Chronic recurrent herpetic infections;
    Inflammatory purulent diseases of the pelvic organs in women (salpingitis, salpingoophoritis, adnexitis, endometrium, endocervicitis) as part of complex therapy;
    The recovery period in women after postoperative surgery on the uterus (Caesarean section, removal of polyps or myomatous nodes) for the purpose of preventing adhesions;
    Inflammation of the prostate gland in men, caused by bacterial and non-bacterial factors;
    Postoperative purulent-septic complications, in particular when removing cancer neoplasms;
    Asthenic conditions;
    Decreased vitality and general weakness of the body;
    Skin furuncles, carbuncles, erysipelas;
    The rehabilitation period after alcohol and drug intoxication;
    Inflammatory diseases of the oral mucosa;
    Viral and infectious diseases of the upper respiratory tract and nasopharynx;
    Nonspecific prevention of influenza and ARVI in the autumn-spring period.

Contraindications

Candles Galavit have a number of contraindications, which must be read before the start of therapy. These contraindications include the following conditions:
    Individual intolerance to the components of the drug;
    Pregnancy and lactation;
    Children under 12 years.

Dosing and Administration

The daily dose of the drug and the duration of the course of therapy is determined by the doctor, depending on the indications and severity of the pathological process.
According to the instructions, suppositories are injected into the rectum, previously emptying the intestine. If the patient suffers from chronic constipation, then before the introduction of a candle, a cleansing enema should be made.
In inflammatory bowel diseases, accompanied by a violation of its function (diarrhea, spasms, pain, flatulence), the patient is prescribed 1 suppository rectally 2 times a day. The course of treatment is at least 5-7 days, which, if necessary, can be repeated after 3 days after drug discontinuation.
With peptic ulcer of the stomach in the acute phase, adult patients are prescribed 2 suppositories once a day for the night according to the instructions. The duration of therapy in this case is 2-3 days.
With viral hepatitis, the initial therapeutic dose of the drug is 2 suppositories 1 time per day, and 3 days later 1 suppository 2 times a day for 10-14 days. If necessary, the course of treatment is repeated 3 days after the drug is discontinued.
With chronic recurrent herpetic infections, the patient is prescribed 1 candle once a day for 5 days. Further, in order to prevent recurrences of herpes simplex, prescribe a course of treatment with a drug 1 candle once a day at intervals of 2 weeks - 3 times.
In cases of skin and mucous membrane diseases caused by human papillomavirus, 1 suppository is prescribed to the patient once a day for 7 days. If necessary, the course of treatment is repeated after 2 weeks.
With inflammatory purulent diseases of the pelvic organs, inflammation of the prostate gland in men, urogenital infections, patients are prescribed 1 suppository 2 times a day for 3 days, then the dose is reduced to 1 suppository once a day. The duration of the course of therapy is 10-15 days.
During the recovery period after the operations on the uterus in women of retirement or reproductive age, one suppository is administered rectally once a day for 5 days. If necessary, the course of treatment is repeated again.
With the aim of preventing influenza and SARS in patients with weakened immunity, 1 Galab suppositium is administered rectally for 5 days 1 time per day at night.

Use of the drug during pregnancy and lactation

In view of the lack of sufficient information regarding the safety of the active ingredients of the drug on the fetus and the general course of pregnancy, the use of Galavit suppositories during the waiting period of the child is contraindicated.
During breastfeeding, Galavit is not prescribed for women because of a lack of information regarding the penetration of active ingredients into breast milk. If necessary, lactation should be stopped.

Side effects

As a rule, this drug is well tolerated by patients and only in rare cases it is possible to develop allergic reactions and a burning sensation in the anus. These phenomena are temporary and do not require withdrawal of the drug.

Overdose

In medicine, cases of overdose with Galavit have not been reported, however, in order to prevent the development of side effects and allergic reactions, it is not recommended to exceed the dose specified in the instructions.

Interaction with other medicinal products

With the simultaneous use of galavit suppositories with antibiotics or antiviral agents, the therapeutic dose of the latter can be reduced, which avoids the development of side effects on the background of therapy with the drugs of these groups.

Conditions of dispensing and storage of the drug

Candles Galavit are released in pharmacies without a doctor's prescription. The drug should be stored in a cool dark place out of the reach of children. Shelf life of suppositories is 3 years from the date of production, at the end of which the drug should be discarded.
