Suspension Nurofen is a drug related to the pharmacological group of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs. It is used for children as an anesthetic and antipyretic with elevated body temperature.

Form of issue and composition

Suspension for oral (oral) use Nurofen has a syrupy consistency, white color, a characteristic orange or strawberry odor. The main active substance of the drug is ibuprofen, its content in 5 ml of suspension is 100 mg. It also includes auxiliary components, which include:
    Lemon acid.
    Xanthan gum.
    Sodium natrium.
    Syrup of maltitol.
    Glycerol.
    Sodium citrate.
    Domiphenum bromide.
    Sodium chloride.
Aromatizer orange (2M16014) or strawberry (500244E).
    Purified water.
Suspension of Nurofen is contained in polyethylene terephthalate bottle in volume of 100 or 150 ml. Cardboard pack contains 1 bottle with the appropriate volume of suspension, a special syringe dispenser, as well as instructions for the use of the drug.

pharmachologic effect

The main active substance of the suspension Nurofen ibuprofen has an inhibitory effect on the enzyme cyclooxygenase, which catalyzes the reaction of the transformation of arachidonic acid into mediators of the inflammatory reaction of prostaglandins, responsible for the development of the inflammatory reaction in tissues, the appearance of pain, and the rise in body temperature. By reducing the concentration of prostaglandins, an analgesic, anti-inflammatory and antipyretic therapeutic effect of the Nurofen suspension is realized.
Data on the rate of absorption, distribution, metabolism, and excretion of the active substance Nurofen are not currently available.

Indications for use

Nurofen suspension is indicated for a number of pathological processes, which are accompanied by an increase in body temperature and the development of pain syndrome against the background of the inflammatory reaction:
Acute respiratory viral infection - viral infection of the upper respiratory tract with the development of intoxication.
Influenza is a specific respiratory viral infection caused by the influenza virus, characterized by a moderate and severe course with severe intoxication.
Various childhood bacterial and viral infections, accompanied by an increase in body temperature.
Post-vaccination reaction of the body, which is characterized by an increase in the body temperature of the child after vaccination.
Migraine - paroxysmal headache of moderate intensity.
    Symptomatic headache.
    Toothache of medium intensity.
Neuralgia - the pain that develops as a result of aseptic (non-infectious) inflammation of the peripheral nerves.
Pain in the middle ear, throat, skull bones.
Post-traumatic or post-operative pains of different locations.
Suspension Nurofen is a drug for symptomatic treatment, it helps reduce body temperature, reduce the inflammatory reaction and pain, it does not affect the course of the pathological process and its progression.

Contraindications for use

Admission of the suspension Nurofen is contraindicated in a number of pathological and physiological conditions, which include:
Individual intolerance and hypersensitivity of the organism to the active substance or auxiliary components of the drug.

A marked decrease in the functional activity of the kidneys or liver.
    Decreased acuity of hearing.
With caution, the suspension of Nurofen is taken with liver, kidney disease, the presence of gastric infection with the bacterium Helicobacter pylori, the use of indirect anticoagulants (blood clotting agents) or other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, bronchial asthma and urticaria suffered in a past peptic ulcer of the stomach or duodenum.
