Pharmacodynamics and pharmacokinetics

The active substance - ambroxol belongs to the group of benzylamines. It restores the normal balance between the serous and mucous component of the bronchial secretion, by raising the secretion of the mucosa and directly affects the active cells in the bronchial glands. The substance stimulates the activity of special villi of the respiratory tract, thereby facilitating its movement through the bronchi. Also, ambroxol hydrochloride has the property of reducing the viscosity of phlegm by depolymerizing mucopolysaccharides. The amount of bronchial secretion does not increase, the stimulation of the centers that cause coughing does not occur.
In the time interval from half an hour to three hours, with oral intake of tablets, the drug reaches a maximum concentration in the lungs. About 90% of the substance binds to blood proteins. Most drugs are excreted by the kidneys after 6-11 hours, after administration as glucuronide (or unchanged), the rest is metabolized in the liver tissues.
