Pharmacodynamics

The active substance of the drug is an imidazoline derivative. Affects adrenoreceptors of blood vessels located in the nasopharyngeal mucosa. Under the influence of the preparation, the blood vessels narrow, the hyperemia decreases and as a consequence, the mucosal edema decreases and the amount of discharge from the nose decreases. This facilitates the process of nasal breathing in various diseases (diseases of the paranasal sinuses, rhinitis, allergic conditions). The effect is observed after 10-20 minutes and lasts for 10 hours.

Pharmacokinetics

With the recommended therapeutic doses, the drug is not practically absorbed into the systemic bloodstream, and therefore there is no data on the pharmacokinetics.

Indications for use

    rhinitis of viral, bacterial, allergic, traumatic etiology;

Reviews of Galazolin

Reviews about the drug in most cases, favorable. Patients note the high efficiency and duration of the action, which is especially important if you need to go to work.
However, sometimes, on the forums, not everyone can figure out "what are the drops of Galazolin" or what are the drops used for and mistakenly believe that Galazolin is a drop for the eyes. This is not true, Galazolin is a drop in the nose. But if you accidentally dripped them in the eyes, then you should not worry, nothing will happen from a single instillation. However, in case of redness or the appearance of discomfort, you should wash your eyes or drip Okomistin.
It should be noted that galazoline in the drops to dose relatively difficult, part of the solution can get into the throat, so the risk of side effects is higher. Many patients report unwanted reactions: insomnia, neurosis, anxiety. Also, they often forget about the short-term use of the drug and use it more than the time specified in the instructions.
This contributes to the development of drug rhinitis, in which narrowing of the vessels is replaced by increased supply of mucous blood and the resumption of discharge or nasal congestion, which is difficult to treat. With long-term administration of the drug atrophy of the nasal mucosa develops.
