Composition

Oxymetazoline hydrochloride 0.05 g per 100 ml and auxiliary substances, including camphor, eucalyptol, levomenthol.

Pharmacodynamics

Oxymetazoline, being an alpha2-adrenomimetic, has a vasoconstrictive effect. As a result, vascular permeability decreases, which leads to a decrease in mucosal edema and a reduction in nasal breathing. Increases the drainage of the paranasal sinuses by opening their mouths. Camphor, menthol and eucalyptol have anti-inflammatory, antiseptic, bactericidal and fungicidal action, normalize mucosal secretion, improve mucus escape.

Pharmacokinetics

With local application, penetration of the drug into the blood (systemic absorption) does not occur. Menthol, camphor and eucalyptol enter the systemic bloodstream in small doses, from which they are discharged through the lungs. The drug begins to act after 10-15 minutes and its effect lasts 10-12 hours. The symptoms of rhinitis disappear after 3-4 days from the beginning of treatment.

Indications for use

Nazol Advance is used for symptomatic treatment:
    acute rhinitis of any etiology;
    acute sinusitis, sinusitis, frontal sinusitis.
The drug is used to eliminate edema of the mucous membrane during operations in the nose and after surgery.

Contraindications

    atrophic rhinitis;
    Thyroid gland diseases;

The drug is administered intranasally. To avoid side effects, the instruction must be strictly observed.
Nasal passages are cleared before use. The bottle is located in the nasal passage of the nebulizer upward and strongly compressed during inspiration through the nose. The other nasal passage is closed at this time. Injection is produced in both nasal passages.
Adults and children over 12 years: 2 doses 2 times a day with an interval of 12 hours. The course of treatment is 3 days if the drug is used without prescribing a doctor.
Children from 6 to 12 years: 1 dose 2 times with an interval of at least 12 hours. The course of treatment is 3 days if the drug is used without prescribing a doctor.

Overdose

Interaction

The drug is not recommended to be used simultaneously with other vasoconstrictors. Do not prescribe concomitantly with monoamine oxidase (procarbazine, selegin) inhibitors, which increase the vasoconstrictor effect. Patients may take the drug 2 weeks after the end of the MAO inhibitors.
