Gastal is a drug that belongs to the pharmacological group of antacids. It is used for various pathological conditions of the stomach, accompanied by increased acidity of the gastric juice.

Form of issue and composition

The drug Gastal is available in the form of tablets for resorption. In one tablet contains aluminum hydroxide-magnesium carbonate gel - 450 mg and magnesium hydroxide - 300 mg. It also includes auxiliary components:
    Lactose monohydrate.
    Pregelatinised starch.
    Mannitol.
    Silicon dioxide colloidal.
    Aspartame.

Gastal tablets in their composition contain active substances gel aluminum hydroxide-magnesium carbonate and magnesium hydroxide. This combination of active substances can neutralize hydrochloric acid of gastric juice without stimulation of its production by glandular cells of the gastric mucosa. Due to this effect, the drug belongs to the buffer antacids. One tablet Gastal neutralizes 21.5 mmol of hydrochloric acid, the effect persists for about 2 hours after its administration, while the acidity of the stomach is maintained at a physiological level (pH of the medium is 3.0-5.0). Also, the drug suppresses the activity of pepsin (the enzyme of gastric juice that breaks down protein molecules), lysolecithin, bile acids, and maximally removes the manifestations of dyspepsia, in particular heartburn, eructation with acidic contents. Tablets due to aluminum ions enhance the protective properties of the gastric mucosa - increases the synthesis of mucin (protective mucus), sodium hydrogen carbonate (endogenous alkali, further neutralizes hydrochloric acid), increases the concentration of endogenous growth factors of cells in the area of ​​damage.
After resorption tablets Gastal, its active substances with saliva enter the stomach cavity, where they have a therapeutic effect. In the process of neutralizing hydrochloric acid, the active substances are converted into insoluble salts of magnesium and aluminum, which are excreted from the intestine with feces. Gastal tablets are used in conditions of high acidity of gastric juice, which is characterized by such manifestations or diseases:
    Dyspepsia with pain in the epigastric region (upper abdomen), sensations of discomfort in the stomach.
    Heartburn - a burning sensation behind the sternum, which develops due to the throwing of acidic gastric juice into the lower parts of the esophagus.
    Sour eructation.
    Pathological processes in the stomach, accompanied by high acidity - hyperacid gastritis, peptic ulcer of the stomach or duodenum, reflux esophagitis, hernia of the esophageal opening of the diaphragm, which develops the insufficiency of the lower esophageal valve and the systematic transfer of acidic gastric contents into the esophagus.
Also, the drug is used to develop dyspeptic phenomena after taking a significant amount of fried, fatty foods, excessive use of coffee, alcohol, after smoking.

Contraindications to use

The use of tablets Gastalum is contraindicated in a number of pathological and physiological conditions of the body, which include:
