Composition

In the aerosol Pantenol, which is a skin foam, the active substance enters at a concentration of 50 mg / g. Excipients: cetyl stearyl alcohol, liquid wax, liquid paraffin, peracetic acid, water, propellant from a mixture of gases - n-butane, isobutane and propane.

pharmachologic effect

Dermatoprotective, local anti-inflammatory. The drug replenishes the deficit of pantothenic acid and stimulates regenerative processes.

Pharmacodynamics and pharmacokinetics

Dexpanthenol - what is it?

Dexpanthenol is an alcohol analogue of pantothenic acid, which, biotransforming in the body, provides the same effects as pantothenic acid (pantothenate or vitamin B5).
If it gets on the skin, the substance is quickly absorbed into the tissue, while turning into an active form - vitamin B5 (water-soluble vitamin B).
The latter in turn is part of the specific coenzyme CoA, which is the main regulator of metabolic processes (the Krebs cycle, the exchange of fatty acids, fats, carbohydrates, proteins, phospholipids, etc.), provides acetylation of choline and the formation of corticosteroids.

Pharmacodynamics and pharmacokinetics

Pantothenate, dexpanthenol and their anhydrous salts are water-soluble vitamins. They are actively involved in fat, carbohydrate and energy metabolism, and also perform an important function in the oxidation and acetylation processes.
In the course of metabolic processes interacts with B-group vitamins. Participates in the formation of epithelial tissue and ensures its normal functioning, reduces itching and shows weak anti-inflammatory activity.
With topical application, the drug can compensate for the increased need for damaged skin and / or mucous membranes in pantothenic acid.
The active substance is absorbed by the skin.
Bioavailability of pantothenate entering the body with food is 50%. In the body, the substance is transported by forming bonds with plasma proteins (mainly albumin and β-globulins).
In healthy adults, the concentration of pantothenic acid in the blood with topical application is 0.5-1 mg / ml, in blood serum - 0.1 mg / ml.
The active substance is not metabolized in the body (except for inclusion in Ko-A). About ⅔ received unchanged in the body of pantothenic acid (about 70%) is excreted by the kidneys, the remaining amount - with feces.

Indications for use

What is the purpose of external dosage forms of Pantenol?
Ointment, aerosol and spray (skin foam) Pantenol are used in the following cases:
    to accelerate the healing and epithelialization of the skin with microtrauma, skin irritation (for example, due to exposure to UV rays, photo or radiotherapy), pressure sores, chronic skin ulcers, erosion of the cervix, anal fissures, after transplantation of skin grafts;
    for the treatment of minor burns;
    for the treatment and prevention of roughness and cracking of the skin;
    for prophylactic breast care in breast-feeding women, as well as to reduce irritation of the nipples and treatment of cracks in them;
    for regular skin care for infants and treatment of erythema of the buttocks (diaper dermatitis);
for the treatment of the skin of patients during and after topical application of GCS.

Contraindications

Intolerance to dexpanthenol or the auxiliary components contained in the preparation.
Parenteral administration and taking of tablets are contraindicated in case of mechanical intestinal and hemophilia obstruction.
Additional contraindications to tablets - children's age, syndrome of impaired absorption of glucose / galactose, fructose, sucrose-isomaltase deficiency.

Side effects

Hypersensitivity reactions. When taking tablets, dyspeptic disorders are possible.

Pantenol aerosol: instructions for use

Spray the aerosol on the affected area with a thin layer from one to four times a day. Before applying Pantenol on the wound surface, it is pre-treated with an antiseptic.
Before using the aerosol, shake the container.

Pantenol from burns

With light burns (1-2 degrees), lotion, spray, aerosol or cream with Pantenol are used. At an early stage of treatment, preference is given to formulations with a light texture, an ointment with Pantenol from sunburn is shown at later stages of treatment.
It is most convenient to use a spray (foam) or aerosol in case of burns. Remedy for burned skin is applied immediately after getting injured and then as needed (1 to 4 times a day). Ointment is recommended to rub a little.
Wound surfaces should be disinfected before use.
The optimal remedy for burns of the oral mucosa and the head is Pantenol solution for external use. In the first case it is used in the form of rinses, in the second - in the form of irrigation. If necessary, the solution can be diluted with water in a ratio of 1: 1 for the oral cavity, and in a ratio of 1: 3 for the head.
Cover the burned skin with a bandage after applying the cream, foam, ointment or solution is not needed.
The effectiveness of agents based on dexpanthenol is confirmed by numerous positive reviews. According to most people, Pantenol is an indispensable tool for domestic and sunburn.

Pantenol for the face

One of the important properties of dexpanthenol is its hygroscopicity. The substance, like a sponge, attracts molecules of water to itself and keeps them. The tiny size of the molecules of dexpanthenol itself allows it to penetrate deep layers of the skin, transporting water there as well.
The substance is a precursor of vitamin B5, which, like all B vitamins, helps to eliminate hypovitaminosis of the skin, its excessive dryness, flabbiness and roughness, heals pimples.
For this reason, cosmetics manufacturers often add it to moisturizing gels, serums, emulsions and face and body creams (cream for 911 Pantenol, body lotion Avanta Pantenol-EVO, etc.). At home, women use Pantenol in face masks for wrinkles and as a remedy for acne.
According to reviews of cosmetologists, the effect of the drug on the skin is comparable to the action of hyaluronic acid. When systematically applied, it gives the skin a smoothness and makes it more elastic.
Cream Pantenol has an emulsion base, so its use is preferred for dry skin type. It is also suitable for skin prone to irritation. For oily and problematic skin, it is recommended to use a spray.
The cream is applied to the face in the morning and in the evening instead of the usual caring means, the spray is sprayed onto the hand, and then the formed foam is spread on the skin of the face and neck. Multiplicity of applications can vary from one to several times a day.
Means are equally effective both on healthy skin and on the damaged skin.
With frequent use of dexpanthenol, the appearance of peeling, which eventually passes.
Ointment for skin care is not suitable. The use of Pantexol in this form can cause clogging of pores and oxygen starvation of skin cells.
From acne the mask with Pantenol cream, camphor and tea tree oil (melaleuki) helps a lot. Camphor disinfects, deodorizes, cleanses and whitens the skin, reduces its fat content and increases elasticity. Oil melaleuky well removes inflammation, has antifungal, antibacterial and antiseptic effect.
To prepare the mask in a small amount of cream add a few drops of essential oils. The composition should be applied to cleansed (preferably with a scrub) skin of the face and neck. The exposure time is 20 minutes.
After washing the mask, the skin can be wiped off with a non-alcoholic lotion.
To treat acne, acne and pustular rash, you can use milk or cream and in pure form. However, you do not need to count on a quick result. The drug "works" with regular application.

Use of Pantenol for Hair

The use of Pantenol for hair helps to normalize the state of the epidermis, restore the dried hair, reduce its loss and accelerate growth. The drug is considered one of the best remedies for the treatment of damaged epidermis.
The concentration of dexpanthenol in the cosmetics cosmetics usually does not exceed 5%, in medical cosmetics can contain up to 75%.
After using the drug on the hair, a thin protective film is formed, protecting the hair from UV rays, exposure to high temperatures and other aggressive factors.
The hair after Pantenol remains smooth, light and fresh. In addition, they become more docile (which greatly facilitates stacking) and look thicker and thicker (the use of dexpanthenol allows you to increase the thickness of the hair up to 10%.
Penetrating deep into the hair, it fills all the microcracks and damages, moisturizes and smoothes the hair, making them more smooth, elastic and shiny.
Nourishing and soothing the scalp, Pantenol prevents dandruff and reduces hair loss.
Gel, cream and hair spray can be used in its pure form. Spray and cream are applied to clean damp hair along their entire length, slightly receding from the roots, the gel is rubbed into the roots.
To prepare a nutritious mask for the hair, you should mix the yolk of one egg with 1 tbsp. a spoonful of olive oil and the same amount of castor oil. The mixture is heated in a water bath and then 1 tbsp. a spoon of gel or cream Pantenol and - if desired - a little kefir.
The composition is applied to damp hair, after which the hair is covered with polyethylene and warmed with a towel. The exposure time is 60 minutes. Wash off the mask with a shampoo.
Improving the condition of the hair and scalp is facilitated by the use of tableted forms of Pantenol. The course is designed for 2-3 months. The daily dose of 240-300 mg (6 capsules 40 mg or 3 tablets 100 mg). It must be divided into three steps.

Additionally

Pantenol, produced by different manufacturers, is used in the same way. That is, the instruction for Pantenol-Ratiofarm ointment is similar to the instructions for Pantenol-Teva ointment.
The choice of dosage form is determined by the nature of the lesion. In the case of dry skin, the use of ointment is recommended, since it contains a high percentage of fat, the cream is more suitable for open areas of the body and moist wounds. In painful sunburns, it is advisable to use an aerosol or spray.

Overdose

When used in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions, an overdose is unlikely.
In the case of taking a large dose of pantothenic acid or its derivatives, no toxic effects were noted. If the dose of Pantenol is exceeded in a pill or if a spray / ointment is swallowed, consult a doctor. Therapy is symptomatic.

Interaction

With topical application according to the indications, interaction with other drugs is unknown.
When applying a spray to the anal area or genitals in the case of condoms, reduces the strength of the latter when tearing. This is due to the fact that the composition of this dosage form contains mineral oil.
There is evidence that dexpanthenol, when taken orally and parenterally, prolongs the effects of succinylcholine.
The use of an injectable solution in combination with general anesthetic agents, barbiturates and antibacterial drugs increases the risk of developing hypersensitivity reactions.

Storage conditions

Store in a place protected from sunlight at a temperature below 25 ° C. Keep away from children.
It is forbidden to spray the aerosol near open sources of fire.

Shelf life

For aerosol and spray - two years, for tablets - three years, for ointment - five years.

special instructions

In chronic renal failure, oral dosage forms of the drug should be administered with caution.

Pantenol or D-Pantenol - which is better?

D-Pantenol and Pantenol are trade names, under which the same substance - dexpanthenol or provitamin B5 - is produced.
Thus, the difference between Pantenol and D-Pantenol is only that these drugs are manufactured by different pharmaceutical companies. Therefore, the choice in favor of this or that remedy should be done guided by subjective sensations.

Bepanten or Pantenol - which is better?

Bepanten, like D-Pantenol, is synonymous with Pantenol. The drug is produced by the German company Bayer (BCC AG) in the form of cream 5% and ointment 5%. Advantages of Pantenol are a greater number of dosage forms and a lower price than the analogue.
The clinical effectiveness of drugs, according to consumers, is comparable.

Which is better - Pantenol or Olasol?

Active components of Olasol are chloramphenicol, boric acid, benzocaine and sea buckthorn oil.
Owing to this composition, Olasol has an antibacterial and local anesthetic effect, promotes the regeneration of damaged tissues, reduces exudation and accelerates the epithelization of wounds.
Antibacterial activity of the drug is manifested in the case of Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus, Proteus and a number of other pathogens often found in wounds.
The therapeutic effect of Olasol is ensured by the high dispersity of the substances in its composition.
In dermatology, the agent is used to activate sluggish granulation, improve the survival of skin grafts when skin is transplanted to burned body surfaces, removes necrotic masses and purulent discharge from wounds and ulcers, reduces the separation of exudate from non-healing trophic ulcers in patients with venous and arterial insufficiency of the lower extremities, healing of long non-healing chemical and thermal burns (Pantenol is more suitable for the treatment of thermal burns), treatment of post-traumatic Aneva infections, itchy dermatitis, microbial eczema, infectious dermatitis.
Olasol, in contrast to Pantenol, has a wider therapeutic profile, which is due to the presence in its composition of anesthesin and antibiotic. In addition, Olazol can be used to treat profusely wounds.
Disadvantages of this drug are the absence of different dosage forms (the product is only available in the form of an aerosol), as well as the inability to use in pregnancy, in nursing women and in children. The composition of Olazol includes much more components than in Pantenol, so the likelihood of developing allergic reactions against its background is higher than in the case of Pantenol.

Pantenol for children

Data on the safety and efficacy of Pantenol tablets in pediatrics are not available. Spray and aerosol can be used in children as directed by a doctor and under the supervision of an adult.
Ointment with Pantenol can be used in children of different age groups, including newborn babies. The drug showed high efficiency in diffuse (disseminated) neurodermatitis in children under 2 years old.
In contrast to GCS for topical use, dexpanthenol does not inhibit the production of glycosaminoglycans and collagen, as well as the process of dividing skin cells, while gently stimulating the function of the adrenal glands.
These properties, as well as good tolerability, absence of side effects and compatibility with other drugs, allow using Pantenol for the treatment and prevention of skin pathologies (skin irritation, gluteus erythema, disseminated neurodermatitis, intertrigo, etc.) in children under 2 years, including newborn babies.

Application in pregnancy

If there is evidence, the use of Pantenol is allowed during pregnancy (at any time) and during lactation.

Reviews of Pantenol

Pantenol is a universal helper for injuries and burns.
Reviews about Pantenol cream allow you to conclude that this drug effectively helps not only from burns, but can also replace more expensive cosmetics. It can be used for a person in pure form, but can be used as a basis for masks.
There are also many good reviews about Pantenol spray against wrinkles and dry skin. According to women, it is best to apply it on a well-steamed face, because through the opened pores absorbed more useful elements, which increases the effectiveness of the tool.
Penka does not create a sticky film on the skin, and, therefore, does not disturb the process of air exchange. The same effect is given by Pantenol in the form of milk for the body.
Another category of reviews about the drug is reviews about the Pantenol spray for hair. The product is applied to the hair that has dried up after washing your hair and does not wash off. As a result - the hair becomes more dense and shiny, the hair falls off noticeably, it is easier to comb and it is easier to lay down.
As for the Pantenol ointment, this dosage form is ideally suited for the care of the delicate skin of infants under the diaper. The use of the product after each diaper replacement prevents the appearance of gluteal erythema. With diffuse neurodermite ointment (Pantenol-Teva, Pantenol-ratiofarm, etc.) very quickly eliminates cracks, itching and blood overflow with blood, as well as the release of exudate.
It should be noted that the effectiveness of drugs, according to most people, is comparable, cheaper means (for example, 911 Pantenol-cream) is often not inferior to a more expensive analog (for example, Pantenol-D cream by JGL).
