pharmachologic effect

Pharmacodynamics and pharmacokinetics

In the extract of ivy leaves contains many useful components, which determine its effect. The most significant of these are the saponins of the triterpene series, for example, hederacoside C and alpha-hederin.
As is known, alpha-hederin inhibits the endocytosis of beta2-adrenergic receptors, which increases the activity of beta2-adrenergic cells on the bronchial mucosa, as well as the epithelial layer of the lungs. In this case, the level of calcium ions in the cells of bronchial mucosa decreases, contributing to bronchodilation. As a result of stimulation of beta2-adrenergic receptors, an increase in the production of surfactant by alveolar epithelial cells of the second type occurs. Therefore, the viscosity of mucus decreases and it is easier to remove it from the respiratory system.

Reviews of Herbion Ivy leaf Syrup

It should be noted that such drugs are in great demand among patients due to their naturalness. In general, many people prefer to be treated with herbal remedies, which, in their opinion, will not bring additional harm to the body. Heresies about ivy syrup, concerning its effectiveness, are very diverse.
Some patients report that when taking this syrup, they noticed that the cough quickly became "softer", sputum discharge improved, and soon all of the unwanted symptoms disappeared altogether. Usually in discussions users indicate that it took them 3-4 days to fully recover.
However, there are reports in which patients say that taking this medication only intensified the cough, so they started using other medications, but there was no relief. As a result, when they visited the doctor, they were prescribed antibiotics, inhalations from Ambrobene, and a number of other procedures that helped improve health for a week.
As specialists note, such situations usually arise when several drugs are simultaneously taken "from a cough". This leads to a worsening of sputum discharge, and sometimes to the development of bacterial infection. Therefore, in the treatment it is necessary to follow the instructions of the doctor, and with the development of undesirable symptoms immediately report it, and not engage in independent selection of treatment. Only then can we expect a quick recovery.
