The preparation of Prospan belongs to the pharmacological group of drugs of secretolitics and activators of the motor function of the ciliary epithelium of the bronchial mucosa. It is a herbal remedy and is used to improve the excretion of sputum with various inflammatory pathologies of the respiratory system.
Composition and form of release
The drug Prospan is available in the form of a drop for ingestion and syrup. The main active substance of the drug is a dry extract of ivy leaves. Its content in drops for oral administration is 20 mg per ml. They also include auxiliary components, which include:
Fennel oil.
Saccharin sodium.
Anise oil.
Ethanol.
Peppermint oil.
In 100 ml of Prospan syrup contains 7 mg of dry extract of ivy leaves, as well as certain auxiliary components:
Anhydrous citric acid.
Potassium sorbate.
Cherry flavor.
Purified water.
Solution of sorbitol.
Xanthan gum.

Indications for use

Contraindications
Proscan is contraindicated in case of individual intolerance of one of its components, children under the age of 1, alcohol dependence, as well as other conditions in which the intake of alcohol into the body is excluded.
Dosage and route of administration
Drops of Prospan can be taken orally and used as inhalants. When administered orally, the dosage depends on the patient's age:
Children aged 1-3 years - 10 drops 1-3 times a day.
Children 4-7 years (schoolchildren) - 15 drops 1-3 times a day.
Children older than 7 years and adults - 20 drops 1-3 times a day.
To small children it is recommended to dissolve drops in fruit juice or honey. In the case of inhalation, 20-25 drops are added to the special device, they are diluted with water to a certain volume (usually in a ratio of 1: 2). Inhalations are on average 3-5 times a day. Side effects
