The preparation of Prospan belongs to the pharmacological group of drugs of secretolitics and activators of the motor function of the ciliary epithelium of the bronchial mucosa. It is a herbal remedy and is used to improve the excretion of sputum with various inflammatory pathologies of the respiratory system.

Composition and form of release

Pharmacodynamics and pharmacokinetics

The main active ingredient of the drug Prospan dry extract of ivy leaf contains a number of organic compounds - flavonoids, saponins, triterpenoids. They have several main therapeutic effects:

Indications for use

The preparation Prospan is indicated for use in various inflammatory pathologies of the lungs and bronchial tree (bronchitis, tracheitis, pneumonia), accompanied by production of viscous sputum and difficulty in its withdrawal.

Contraindications

Proscan is contraindicated in case of individual intolerance of one of its components, children under the age of 1, alcohol dependence, as well as other conditions in which the intake of alcohol into the body is excluded.

Dosage and route of administration

Drops of Prospan can be taken orally and used as inhalants. When administered orally, the dosage depends on the patient's age:
    Children aged 1-3 years - 10 drops 1-3 times a day.
    Children 4-7 years (schoolchildren) - 15 drops 1-3 times a day.
    Children older than 7 years and adults - 20 drops 1-3 times a day.
To small children it is recommended to dissolve drops in fruit juice or honey. In the case of inhalation, 20-25 drops are added to the special device, they are diluted with water to a certain volume (usually in a ratio of 1: 2). Inhalations are on average 3-5 times a day. The rate of application of drops of Propane varies within 7 days. After the disappearance of the symptoms of the inflammatory process of the respiratory system, they are used for another 2-3 days. Side effects
