Composition

One milliliter of syrup contains:
    as active ingredients - sodium salt of α-glutamyl-tryptophan - 1 ml, bendazole - 1.25 μg, ascorbic acid - 12 mg;
    as auxiliary substances - sucrose, water.

Form of issue

Produced in 50 ml vials with a spoon-dispenser. One such bottle in a cardboard box.

pharmachologic effect

The drug has an antiviral mediated (active against the pathogens of influenza A and B and other viruses that cause acute respiratory diseases) and anti-inflammatory effect.

Pharmacodynamics and pharmacokinetics

Pharmacodynamics

Alpha-glutamyl-tryptophan (thymogen) enhances the immunomodulatory effect of bendazole, enhancing T-cell immunity.
Ascorbic acid (vitamin C) improves the permeability of capillary membranes, reduces the production of prostaglandins and other proteins of the inflammatory response, thus demonstrating anti-inflammatory effect. Ascorbic acid - a powerful antioxidant, interacts with free radicals of oxygen, protecting cells from damage, improves the body's resistance to infections.
Bendazol initiates the synthesis of interferons (suppress the replication of viruses and intracellular parasites) in the body, exhibits an immunostimulating effect associated with a change in the proportion of cGMP and cAMP in the cells of the immune system (increases the amount of cGMP), which leads to an increase in the number of T- and B-lymphocytes that in turn, increase the effectiveness of the immune response of the whole organism.

Pharmacokinetics

Cytovir-3 syrup is almost completely absorbed into the digestive tract. Bioavailability of bendazole reaches 80%, alpha-glutamyl-tryptophan - 15%, ascorbic acid - no more than 70%. Ascorbic acid is absorbed mainly in the middle parts of the intestine. The maximum concentration is reached in 4-5 hours after administration. Ascorbic acid easily penetrates all tissues and cells of the body, as well as through the placenta.
With diseases of the stomach and intestines (peptic ulcer, ascariasis, lambliasis and other diseases), increased content of fruits and vegetables in the diet, alkaline drinking, binding and penetration of ascorbic acid into the body deteriorates. Ascorbic acid is metabolized predominantly in the liver.
The decay products of ascorbic acid and bendazole are excreted by the kidneys. The half-life period is 3 hours.
Alpha-glutamyl-tryptophan breaks down into individual amino acids, which are used in cells to build protein molecules.

Indications for use

Given that Cytovir-3 antiviral drug, it is used as a means of treatment and prevention of influenza and acute viral respiratory diseases.

    from the gastrointestinal tract - heartburn, a feeling of nausea;
    from the genitourinary system: damage to renal nephrons, crystalluria, formation of kidney stones and bladder;
    allergic reactions: redness, itching, rash, urticaria, swelling of Quincke; very rarely - anaphylactic shock;
    on the part of the endocrine system: damage to the pancreas (glucosuria, hyperglycemia) and impaired synthesis of glycogen until the onset of diabetes mellitus;
    from the cardiovascular system: tachycardia, prolonged use can cause a change in normal ECG parameters, as the value of cardiac output, hypotension, myocardial dystrophy decreases;
    on the part of the hematopoiesis system: an increase in the content of platelets, neutrophils and / and prothrombin in the blood, a decrease in the content of red blood cells in the blood;
    from the side of the central nervous system: excitability, headache, insomnia, dizziness;
    from the side of the respiratory system: cough, difficulty breathing;
    general reactions: fever, sweating, face hyperemia, violation of zinc metabolism, copper.

Instructions for use Cytovir-3

Child age implies that the syrup is more convenient to use than tablets or capsules. Instructions for Cytovir-3 recommend taking syrup for children and adults 30 minutes before meals.

Reception modes Cytovir-3:

    2 ml three times a day for children from one year to 3 years for four days;
    4 ml three times a day for children from 3 to 6 years for four days;
    8 ml three times a day for children from 6 to 10 years for four days;
    12 ml three times a day for children over 10 years old for four days.
For the purpose of prevention, you can repeat the course in 3-4 weeks.

Overdose

In case of overdose, the following symptoms may appear: short-term hypotension, sweating, dizziness, nausea, fever, headache.
These manifestations are treated symptomatically, but it is necessary to consult a doctor to decide whether to continue taking the drug.

Interaction

Features of the interaction of thymogen with other drugs have not been revealed.
When joint intake of ascorbic acid of certain antibiotics (tetracycline and benzylpenicillin), the concentration of the latter in the blood tends to increase. Vitamin C also improves the digestibility of iron-containing substances, and also reduces the effects of heparin and certain other anticoagulants.
Aspirin, some contraceptives and fresh juices reduce absorption of ascorbic acid. Aspirin reduces the absorption of vitamin C by 30%, which in turn increases the likelihood of the appearance of crystalluria during therapy with salicylates and sulfonamides, increases the half-life of the kidneys of certain acids and drugs that have an alkaline pH, reduces the blood content of certain contraceptives, reduces the therapeutic effect of antipsychotics obtained from phenothiazine), and also slows the excretion of amphetamine and a number of antidepressants.
Barbiturates contribute to the faster excretion of ascorbic acid in the urine.
Bendazol with a joint admission with beta-blockers warns an increase in the total peripheral resistance of blood vessels, when taken together with diuretics and hypotensive drugs increases the hypotensive effect of the latter.
Fentolamine increases the hypotensive effect of bendazole.

Storage conditions

    Keep out of the reach of children.
    Store in a dry and dark place.
    Store at temperatures up to 25 ° C.

Analogues of Cytovir-3

Some analogues of Cytovir-3 with the form of release: Anaferon (tablets), Arbidol (capsules), Immunal (drops), Kagocel (tablets), Lavomax (tablets), Orvirem (syrup). Summing up, we can say that the price of analogs is less or close to the price of the Cytovir-3 itself.
The most frequently raised questions among patients about the comparative effectiveness of analogues.

Which is better: Orvirem or Cytovir-3?

The drugs have different mechanisms of action. In Cytovir-3 mediated immunostimulating systemic action, and Orvire directly blocks the replication of viruses in the cell. Among patients, you can hear frequent complaints about the occurrence of an allergy to Orvirem in children.

Which is better: Kagocel or Cytovir-3?

Similar to the mechanism of action and indications drugs. Hence, approximately the same responses from people who used drugs. Therefore, the choice is better to do, based on the recommendations of doctors and economic feasibility.

What is better than Cytovir-3 or Anaferon?

Although Anaferon is a close Cyrotovirus-3 according to the claimed effect, the mechanism of its action, like most homeopathic drugs, has not been studied and is not proved in independent studies. Among patients and doctors, there is a constant debate about its usefulness.

Syrup Cytovir-3 for Children

This drug is contraindicated for use in children up to one year old.

In pregnancy

In pregnancy, taking Cytovir-3 is contraindicated.

Reviews of Cytovir-3

Numerous reviews on the syrup for children Cytovir-3 were divided approximately as follows: 30% - negative, 70% - positive or close to neutral. Often patients who used the drug noted the lack of "medicinal" taste and a more convenient form of release (syrup) and compared with analogues (capsules, tablets, injections).
The opinions of doctors are more restrained, this is due to the widespread reluctance to recommend drugs that affect the immune system, due to the low degree of study of their effect on immunity in the long term.
