The drug Dona is a medicine that is prescribed to regulate metabolic processes in the cartilaginous tissue.

Form of issue and composition

The drug Dona is released as a solution for intramuscular injection. 1 ml of the drug contains 200 mg of the main active substance glucosamine (in the form of sulfate).
As auxiliary substances water for injection, sodium chloride, lidocaine hydrochloride is used.
The solvent is water for injection, taken up to 1 ml, as well as 24 mg of diethanolamine.

pharmachologic effect

The medicine shows an analgesic and anti-inflammatory effect, normalizes the lack of endogenous glucosamine, in the synovial fluid activates the production of hyaluronic acid and proteoglycans. Also, the medicine restores the processes of enzyme production in cells of articular cartilage and synovial membrane, increases the permeability of the joint capsule. Glucosamine improves the deposition of calcium microelements in bone tissue, depresses destructive processes in the joints, normalizes their functioning, reducing pain in the joints.
The medicine is excreted from the body with the help of kidneys.

Indications for use

The medicine is prescribed for the following diseases:
    Spondylarthrosis;
    Osteochondrosis;
    Primary and secondary osteoarthritis.

Dosing regimen

The solution is allowed to be used only for intramuscular injections. Before use, it is necessary to mix the contents of two ampoules in a single syringe - the solvent and the solution. A ready-to-use injection of 3 ml is used 3 times a week for 4-6 weeks. The injections can be combined with the use of the drug in the form of a powder in a sachet. The scheme and duration of therapy is determined only by a specialist.

Overdose

Cases of drug use in a dosage exceeding the therapeutic rate were not noted.

Drug Interactions

Injection of the drug Dona is allowed to be simultaneously used with the use of glucocorticosteroids, paracetamol and NSAIDs.
With caution, medication Dona is prescribed along with cimetidine, digitoxin, sedatives and hypnotics, polymyxin-B, amnodaron, MAO inhibitors, quinidine, sodium thiopental or hexenal, novocainamide, verapamil, aymalin, beta-blockers.

Pregnancy and lactemia

The drug Dona in injections is contraindicated during pregnancy and breastfeeding.

Side effects

Usually the drug Dona is well tolerated.
In some cases, the following adverse reactions are possible: itching, diarrhea, urticaria, constipation, flatulence.
The medication contains lidocaine, so there may be side effects such as drowsiness, dizziness, vomiting, euphoria, headache, disorientation, tremor, numbness in the mucous membrane of the mouth and tongue, nausea, diplopia.

Contraindications

Dona drug can not be administered in the following situations:
    Children up to 12 years;
    Acute congestive heart failure and changes in cardiac conduction;
    Pregnancy and lactation;
    Complex functional changes in the kidneys and liver;
    Epileptiform cramps;
    High sensitivity to lidocaine and glucosamine.
Care must be taken when using this medication if the patient has an allergic reaction to mollusks, shrimps.

special instructions

Patients who have severe renal or hepatic insufficiency, as well as a violation of glucose tolerance, should be under medical supervision.

Terms and conditions of storage

The medicine should be stored at a temperature of not more than 25 gr C, in a place inaccessible to young children. The preparation of Dona is allowed to be applied within 2 years from the moment of its release.
